Love and Other Anxiety: a poetry collection

For U

i'd like to write your name in the sky but would you write my name too?
i'd like to sing our song at the top of my lungs but would you mind if i dance with you too?

walking on my way to you, do you remember how we got here?
thinking the way you think, have you forgotten my fears lay down here?

two summers, few holidays, we went from shuttered abstract to gorgeous painting
no rules, we steadily stay close, we dance through the rain of leaving

reservations, what ifs and buts, shut your mouth we've been here for months
breakfast, showers, movie nights, we'll ride and jump through these humps

love and anxiety and keeping my glass full not empty, cheers to you, my baby
hush, for pain that i've been, no space is safer than your arms around me

i'd like to propose a plan, we will fight and will get hurt but we can't run away
we can shout and scream, we will kiss and make out but we can't stray

if there's a paper ring, will a yes be enough to be my sweetest answer?
to remind you said i wasn't a dream but an answered prayer, is that true?
