Chapter 54 (not edited

“Benvenuti in Famiglia”. (welcome to the family).

Fuck!, that was the last thing on Nathaniel’s mind. Who could believe that his wife was related to his friend’s family?.

Nathaniel didn’t predict this could happen like this when he informed his mom on the phone earlier that his father-in-law had arrived. He thought introducing them early would be good but who would have thought there was a link.

Fuck!.

Fucking fuck!.

Why did grandma Eliana come?!.

Nathaniel had been protecting his Angelina from violence, even from his psychotic self but never thought her Angelina would be related to violence.

The Dé Luca females were known for their fierceness, boldness, and femele fatale but Angelina was the exact opposite of it.

Nathaniel didn’t blame Angelina’s parents for keeping her in darkness for so long even though he would gladly keep him for that crazy family.

The family was crazy, psychotic, and extremely violent… his Angelina would be brought into the family. Dé Luca never leaves their child outside. They protect, claimed their children by hook or crook.

Everyone was tense as grandma Eliana walked in, controlling the air, commanding total respect. She stopped at a shocked Angelina’s front and touched her cheek softly, “You look like your mother” she said as Richard yanked her hand away and stood at Angelina’s front.

“Don’t fucking touch my daughter” he said venomously. “You left Elina, you didn’t want Elina when she was pregnant, so you have no whatsoever right to touch her daughter”.

Elina chuckled humorlessly, “boy is like forgetting who you are talking to!″ she chided.

“Like I fucking care, the same way you fucking care when you disowned her” Richard snarled.

Eliana stumped her stick on the ground, “You can’t keep family away from family”.

“But I can keep it if the family is too toxic,” He responded.

“Leave, lemme see my granddaughter” she ordered.

“Over my dead body,” Richard growled.

“Papa “Angelina called softly, touching her father as her father should slump, his raw emotions showing the vulnerability of losing her. “Let her see me, I’d talk to her before” Angelina’s voice was soft as her father breathed heavily.

“Ó mọ wípé ìwọ ni kàn moni” her father murmured, she took her father’s trembling hands in hers and kissed it. (*you know that you are the only one I have).

“Eliana,” Angelina called with void emptiness. She didn’t know whether to get angry at the woman in front of her or just be sad. The most thing a child yearned for when growing, was mother care or love and she craved for it before turning it into hatred. Hatred to a woman who brought her to the world.

Guilty flashed through Elaina’s eyes as she composed herself. She has been drowning in guilt since the death of her daughter… now she had hope- a granddaughter and she wished to make it right.

“I know that no matter how I apologize, it is not going to change how you harbor hatred for me…“.

“I don’t hate you…” Angelina put in, “... But I’m not comfortable with you yet”.

“I understood,” she smiled bitterly at her. “I hope to make it up to you,” she said hopefully.

“You can start now” Angelina piped in, wanting to give her a chance to redeem herself. It was always her and her papa but now… she has family, people she could call family.
