Chapter 183

The Kim family territory

Jennie stared outside. The number of people has grown even more. The family members of the soldiers of the Kim family are all here. Jennie stopped the carriage in front of the governor's office building.

She steps out and a few servants come to greet her. "Miss Jennie, is there anything you need?"

Jennie looked around. "Myong-Soo Kim, where is he?"

"He is inside."

Walking towards the building, Jennie noticed the people here were busy working. She hopes that they didn't only do that because of her, but because it is their job. 

Inside the building, they take her to a small room where a boy around 14 looking through papers. He stopped when he noticed them coming.

"Sister Jennie!" the boy smiled. "You come!"

Jennie nodded. 

Myong-Soo Lee is now Myung-Soo Kim. Because he's already considered dead, Seulgi chooses to take him into the Kim family and rename him after their surname. Since he's quite smart, he was appointed to help in the governor's office.

"How's your work, Myung-Soo?"

"There's a lot, but it's fun. Let me take you to meet Mother, she'll be happy to see you again," Myung-Soo stands up happily. 

Before he was still a bit shorter than Jennie, but now he's already a few centimeters higher. It seems the boy is all growing so quickly.

Jennie didn't decline, but she reminds him to finish his job later. Concubine Qi is now using her previous name, Mei, and lives taking care of a store.

"Mother, I'm bringing a guest."

Mei raised her head in surprise. "My, Lady Jennie, what an unexpected surprise."

"I see you have been good here, Madam"

"Yes, I feel really happy here. Is there anything important that happened, Lady Jennie?"

Mei nodded. "You have to take care of yourself."

Jennie and the two chatted for a bit. They never got the chance to have a proper talk before. Previously, Jennie is talking to them out of interest because Myung-Soo is selected at the hunt event. But now, she is talking because she wants to.

She cannot stay for long and after ensuring that they are fine, she left. Mei also told Myung-Soo to continue his job and learn. The meeting is short, but it's warm.

Jennie walks to the carriage again. "How many days are left before my uncle's marriage?"

"There are still 12 days."

"Let's head to the Guo village first before going to the Mountain Kingdom."

"Yes, Miss."

Jennie shifted her gaze to the side. The land of the Ming Kingdom. How many years later will she get the chance to step here again? She is wondering what her future would be. Maybe her family would ask her to get married before the plot finished, which she might refuse. Or they might want her to participate in politics too, which she obviously will try to object to, as much as possible.

She stopped her train of thought and look at Yasha. "What is it, Yasha?"

"Miss, there is news from the capital. The Lan family is attacked by the angry citizen. Aside from that, some of their places are raided by bandits."

Jennie smiled a bit. "They are not bandits.."

It's Lisa's. He must have incited the people to raise their hands against the Lan family. Then use his people to raid the Lan family. It seems both Jackson and Lisa are truly amazing. They used their own way to make the Lan family regret their actions when targeted Jayn.

"Miss?"

"You're dismissed."

Jennie thinks about them. They are truly good friends, where can she find someone like them again? Maybe, their meeting that day is truly fated, but it's a cruel fate.

Good friends become enemies just because of differences in place. But, it can't be helped, this era has forced them to cross blades against each other.

Jackson looks towards the report calmly. He received news about the Manoban family's departure, then the attack on the Lan family.

"Good grief, that Lisa is sure vicious," Jackson looks to the report with a headache. The loss of money from the raid is not in any case lower than what they lost from the failed business with Young Noble Han. The problem is, with this way Lisa used would decrease the profit Jackson would get in the future.

Jackson smirked when he thinks about the Lan family. They must be feeling chaotic that their business failed one by one and tragedy strikes them repeatedly. The three actions are done by three different people with different forces. They must be feeling frustrated..

"Shu, has the permit come out?" Jackson turned towards his servant.

Shu nodded. "Because of their matter, the permit this time is easier to get."

"I will visit my mother first. You guard the way."

"Yes, Master."

Jackson stands up and walked to the Cold Palace. Cold Palace is the place for those who oppose the emperor and those who he doesn't want to see anymore. Although the name is good, it's truly a cold place where people who stay there are not allowed to get out anymore. They can only have a glimpse of the outside world.

He doesn't like this place, but he will still come here every time he got the chance. The permission to get inside is hard to get, but since he's a troublemaker prince without much support, the emperor let him do what he wants.

Showing the permit, Jackson gets inside.
