"He's a giant alligator, where could he possibly be?" Roxy questioned. It was hours later and the Pizzaplex was closing for the night. The guests were leaving, the kids were safely kept away in Vanessa's office. And yet there was no sign of Monty anywhere. A worried expression crossing over her facial features, Chica trilled quietly, "Do you think he's purposely hiding from us?"
"I don't see why he wouldn't. He was pretty upset with us," Vanessa pointed out as she walked alongside the group of animatronics. Freddy remained quiet during this whole conversation. He was lost in his thoughts. He was so lost he didn't realize that Vanessa was trying to get his attention until he felt someone tugging his arm. At last, the bear gave his attention to the security guard. Sighing softly, Vanessa repeated herself, "We should split up and cover more ground. He's around here somewhere, he couldn't have gone far."
"Right, yeah let's do that," Freddy rumbled quietly with a solemn nod of his head. Agreeing to meet up at the security office after all of the guests were gone, they split up. Unbeknownst to them, they were all being watched from the gift shop. Adjusting the strap of his guitar case, Monty glanced around to make sure they were truly gone. Pulling the hood up over his mohawk, he stepped out.
"Ladies and gentlemen, the Pizzaplex will be closing in five minutes. Please head to the main doors," the announcer declared over the intercom system. Walking down the stairs to the first floor, Monty rubbed his arm nervously. With his clever disguise of a green hoodie and gray sweatpants from Monty Golf, he easily passed as a very tall person. He had tucked his tail into the pants and the hoodie helped to hide part of his snout. Plus there were his sunglasses. Just as long as he didn't draw attention, his plan could work.
He could get out of here.
"Almost there..." Monty whispered to himself. He trailed behind the larger crowd to avoid detection. The less people he was in front of, the better his plan would work. Once he got outside of the mall, the alligator animatronic would leave this place so far behind it would become a distant memory. He was determined to never come back. And he was prepared to do so. The alligator may have been brash but he wasn't stupid, he had made sure to pack the essentials. A portable charger, his bass, a single golf club, a few golf balls and his Bonnie plushie. That was all he needed for his new life. His goal in mind and his optics locked on the front doors, Monty could almost smell freedom.
"Hey Tom! Check it out!" a young boy's voice called out somewhere behind Monty. The robot dared to look. There were two boys about eighteen years old or so. One was laughing his head off as his comrade stumbled around with a weird stick in their hand. It looked like he was mimicking an elderly person. Nearby was a younger female human, about fourteen years old by the looks of it. Wearing ragged jeans and a T-shirt, she had dark brown skin, long black hair and these ridiculously huge black sunglasses on. Who wears sunglasses inside at night? Then Monty recalled he wore sunglasses inside at night all the time.
"Please, could I have my cane back?" the young girl asked. She walked around on stiff legs with her arms outstretched. The two boys stole a glance at each other, devilish grins on their faces. "Sure, go fetch," the taller boy, the one who stole the weird stick in the first place, stated. He tossed it across the lobby. Looking in the direction where the stick clattered on the floor, the girl was about to head that way when the other boy came up on her left and shoved her harshly, knocking her to the floor with ease. Watching this, something snapped in Monty. Storming over, he hissed, "Hey!"
"Oh shoot Billy! Let's get out of here!" the smaller boy, supposedly Tom, yelped. He bolted towards the entrance, his pal Billy in hot pursuit. Letting them escape, Monty huffed angrily before he approached the girl on the floor. Down on her hands and knees feeling around for something, the teenager seemed to sense his presence as she spoke softly, "Thank you sir."
"Whatever, come on. The mall is closing soon," Monty growled. He held his hand out to help her, seeing how it was the polite thing to do, right? However, the teen didn't seem to notice. Confused and irritated, the alligator animatronic coughed loudly to get her attention. "Sorry, have you seen my cane anywhere sir?" the girl asked. Even more bewildered, Monty glanced over at the weird stick laying on the ground literally not even ten feet away. "It's right over- you know what, I'll get it," he snarled, stomping over to it. He was about ready to blow a fuse. Grabbing the so-called cane, he returned and picked the girl up. Making sure she was standing, the robot gave her the stick as he muttered, "There."
"Thank you Monty," the girl replied cheerfully. Monty almost jumped out of his exoskeleton. His cover was blown. Trying to cover up his snout, he stuttered, "Um... I'm not... I'm not..." Giggling quietly, the teenager explained, "Well, you sound like Monty. But the dead giveaway was when you picked me up. Your hands are made of metal." His escape plan ruined, Monty tugged the hood off his head. "Fine, you got me," he grumbled, leaning down to meet her eyes. However, those dark sunglasses were pitch black. Nevertheless, the alligator animatronic muttered, "Happy now?"
"Very much, it's not everyday you meet your favorite animatronic face to face," the girl answered. Shocked, Monty finally noticed she was wearing a T-shirt from the gift shop at his golf course. He was so lost in space for a while that he didn't notice his face was being touched until he got poked in the eye. "Ow!" he yelped, backing up. Also backing up, the girl apologized, "Sorry, I didn't realize that was your eye. I was just curious."
"Curious about what? What does my face feel like?" Monty murmured, rubbing his eye. How could she have not seen his eye? Crossing his arms over his chest, he rumbled, "You better skedaddle, those doors close in a minute." He suddenly got the biggest surprise in his life when the teenaged girl hugged him. "Thank you for helping me Monty," she mumbled. Releasing him, she walked away as she called over her shoulder, "I'm Alyssa by the way!" Left standing there, Monty rasped, "Bye Alyssa..."
Monty wasn't sure how long he was standing there. But Alyssa was gone and the doors were shut. Running his clawed fingers through his mohawk, the alligator animatronic growled and hissed to himself, "What the frick is wrong with me? I'm not soft like the others, I can't be soft like those morons." Yet as he walked away, he couldn't help but wonder if he had been in the right place at the right time. Maybe he was supposed to meet Alyssa? Is this how the others felt when they met their adopted kids? Monty shook his head, trying to clear his thoughts. He had too much to worry about.
