"I'm gonna win!" Gregory hollered over his shoulder. Chasing him down through the crowd, Pedro retorted, "Oh no you're not!" The boys raced each other down from Fazer Blast on the third floor to the second floor. Darting through Kids' Cove, they almost ran Sundrop over. Narrowly avoiding them, the sun themed animatronic cried out, "No running in crowded areas!"
"Sorry Sun!" both Gregory and Pedro apologized. That didn't stop them though as they continued to race each other to the escalator. Pedro ran down the moving steps, careful not to trip and fall. Gregory, being the little hooligan that he was, hopped up onto the railing. Before he could slide down though, he was hoisted up into the air.
"I don't think so buddy," Vanessa scolded Gregory, getting him off of the escalator's railing. Setting the boy back down on the ground, the woman held his hand before he had a chance to run off. "There's no need to rush," Vanessa pointed out as she and Gregory rode the escalator down properly, "We're all going to the same place for lunch."
"I know, but Pedro and I were in the middle of a race," Gregory confessed. By now, they had reached the bottom level of the Pizzaplex. Leading the young boy towards the food courts and the kitchen, Vanessa responded firmly, "Save the racing for after hours please. We can't risk getting anyone hurt."
"I won," Pedro boasted as Gregory and Vanessa arrived at the kitchen door. A frown on his face, Gregory teasingly stuck his tongue out at his cousin. Walking past the boys, Vanessa knocked on the door three times. The door opened and Freddy peeked his head out. "Oh good! You're here!" the bear quipped, "Pizza is almost ready." A bell rang inside of the kitchen, prompting Freddy to correct himself, "It's now ready."
"Smells good," Gregory commented, smelling the sweet aroma of freshly made pizza. Holding the door open for the humans, Freddy quickly checked the coast before closing the door behind him. "We should be good for a few minutes," the bear declared. Pulling a huge pizza out of the hot oven, Chica clucked, "That's all we need to enjoy a wonderful lunch. Ain't that right Gracie?" Sitting on the counter with a sippy cup, Grace clapped her hands in delight.
"Wait, where's Monty and Alyssa? I thought they were joining us," Roxy spoke up, standing up from her chair. At that moment, a large vent opened and Monty crawled out. "It pays to know the secret routes in this place," the gator grumbled, dusting himself off. He turned around and helped Alyssa out of the vent. Adjusting her huge sunglasses, the teenage girl remarked, "No traffic, whatsoever."
"So I guess you guys had an easier time getting here than us. I had to tell my adoring fans that I needed a recharge," Roxy commented, leaning against a fridge. Cleaning his sunglasses, Monty answered, "I don't think any of the guests care when I leave a room. They sure do get worried when I enter though."
"I had to excuse myself from a photoshoot with a recharge too," Freddy admitted, rubbing the back of his neck. All eyes turned to Chica, waiting to hear what she had to say. Cutting the pizza to make enough slices for everyone, the chicken animatronic shrugged her shoulders and pointed out, "It was a slow day at Mazercise today. I got away alright."
"I had to stop doing paperwork," Vanessa chimed in. Clearing her throat, the security guard added sternly, "In all seriousness right now, we all need to be more careful. Trish and Shane are starting to get a little suspicious about why I'm babysitting Gregory and Grace every night. And there's no way I'm gonna get away with explaining Pedro is my nephew as well." Eating his slice of pizza, Pedro agreed, "Yeah, not unless you convince them you're a Latina."
"How come you haven't told them about us? They're your friends, right?" Gregory asked, looking up at Vanessa. Sighing heavily as she knelt down beside the young boy, the woman replied, "Some things are harder to explain to adults than it is to kids."
"Officer Vanessa has a point though, we need to be especially careful. We can't let anyone know about the kids. This is a secret that we need to keep under lock and key," Freddy stated, recalling what Vanessa had told him last night. Meeting everyone's gaze, he went on, "If word gets out, there will be disastrous consequences that follow. We must keep the children safe, that's our top priority." Holding up a slice of pizza like she was about to make a toast, Chica chirped, "You're right Freddy. I say, to avoid suspicion, we don't stay too close to the kids but we still keep a watchful eye on them."
"Chica, where's Grace?" Roxy questioned. It was at this moment that everyone realized that the four year old toddler was missing YET AGAIN. Groaning in despair, Chica faceplanted into the kitchen counter. Taking a flashlight out of his chest cavity, Freddy handed it to Gregory and stated, "You need to vent."
"You boys play too much Among Us," Vanessa pointed out, shaking her head in disbelief.
