Mahi was on a high, his struggle, his hardwork, his sleepless nights had paid off. At that moment he might as well have been the king of the world. At that moment he had everything he could ever have wished for. A name, a rising career, his friends, his team, his father's pride and the girl he owed it all to. Nothing could go wrong as long as he held everything together firmly and carefully, all he had to do was be his best. Or so he thought. When he was a young boy, his father used to tell him, probably to try and instill some importance of studying, that life can change at any moment and if you have to be ready to face it. He didn't know how he could have seen this coming. How he could have seen her abrupt departure from his life, from this world itself, coming. It seemed just yesterday she was teasing him on the phone for getting flustered. It seemed just yesterday he had kept the call, all satisfied and ready to show the world that his name is Mahendra Singh Dhoni. One moment he was smiling, if a bit concerned at her radio silence. The next moment the sky came crashing down. And he was not prepared for it. He was not prepared for it.
