11. Alien Threats

They made it back to the base. Coulson was glad to see that the two were safe, but he wasn't glad about the fractured ribs that Wanda seemed to gain.

Luckily, Wanda's magic and a bit of pain meds were able to fix that up in no time.

Not luckily, the president had declared that he would be giving a speech on the Alien Threats aka Inhumans later that day. Wanda sat with Coulson in his office, She had an ice pack on her chest, finishing up the last healing touches while Coulson was sitting at his desk.

She'd previously explained to him everything that had happened with her, Daisy, and Lincoln. Even though Lincoln wasn't going to help, Daisy was doing all in her power to help Joey.

That's where she was right now, but Wanda didn't feel the need to go down and join her. Instead, she and Coulson were watching his screen.

His screen was split into two sides, one was loading a Terrigen Dispersal Simulator, so they could start working on figuring out what areas were affected the most by the inhuman fish oils.

The second was the news. That news showed the president as he walked on screen and began to speak.

"I'm here tonight to address growing concerns among our citizens of threats we face that are not of this world." He started. "I don't need to remind people of the catastrophes in New York, London, and most recently, Sokovia."

Wanda gripped her ice pack a bit tighter.

"Tragedies that seem to be growing in number and scale, and the organization we had in place to protect us, SHIELD, brought airships raining down in our nation's capital." He was talking about what Jaiying did, but the president obviously didn't know who Jaiying was, so SHIELD was framed.

"Every day, new dangers present themselves, filling our peaceful streets with chaos. By executive order, I have created a special task force to neutralize these alien threats on our soil." Coulson leaned in a little closer as the President spoke.

"The Advanced Threat Containment Unit. The ATCU, will be given full license to act with whatever authority is necessary."

"That's her, Rosalind." Coulson said, referencing the woman who he'd taken the picture of. Apparently Bobbi had been able to track her down and Coulson had a visit with her. It didn't go well, according to him. But Wanda figured that was a story for another time.

"The laws of nature have changed." The president declared. "And until the laws of man change to reflect that, we must do what we feel is right."

He finished his speech, and the two watched as reporters began questioning him.

"Mr. President, how do you respond to reports that the recent incidents are in fact due to the spread of an alien contagion?" One member asked.

On the other screen of the Terrigen Dispersal Simulation, it began to beep as the completion came to finish, revealing that there were places all over the world that could be infected by the fish oils.

Inhumans could really being popping up everywhere.

"These are rumors. They are not true. They are fabrications meant to boost ratings and cause hysteria. Any and all possibilities are being taken very seriously by the ATCU." The president responded to the reporter.

"But if this is an outbreak, shouldn't the public be made aware?" Another reporter asked.

"I think we should be careful of the words we start throwing around. The last thing we need is panic in the streets. Any threat will be eliminated, I can assure you."
