When the wormhole generator was being destroyed parts of it found their way into a rip in space-time that Asheera seemed to notice but ignored. The rip opened in Earth's solar system and the pieces burned up and broke apart in the Earth's atmosphere. The pieces landed in a large area spreading from Northern Africa throughout Europe and western parts of Asia.
