"Where have you been all day?"  A voice called the minute I got into the house. One of the house team helped bring in all of the countless teddies. I'm sure they've probably put them all in my room already, god knows where they'll live
"What do you mean?" I asked looking directly at my Dad who stood in the doorway to his study
"Where have you been all day Riley. Last time I checked you had nothing planned" Dad said making me furrow my brows
"Since when did I have to check every time I went to do something?" I asked only earning a angrier look on his face

"I won't ask again Riley" He warned
"I was out with James" I said bowing my head
"Doing what?" He continued to ask

"What is going on?" Mum said making me look up at her with a pleading look. If anyone could help me right now it would be her
"Your daughter was just telling me what she was doing all day with a boy she met only a few days ago" Dad said
"Is there a problem? They are due to get married Harry" Mum said coming over in the hope it would sweeten him a little
"You would have done all the relevant checks to make sure we can trust him with our daughter, right?" Mum questioned
"Yes but-" He started
"Then that's settled, Riley is okay to hang out with James whenever she would like. It's about time the kids got to know each other anyway. Plus with the upcoming wedding they'll have a lot of planning to do" Mum said before turning directly to me

"but I'm sure we can trust Riley enough to know she wouldn't do anything silly?" Mum asked making me nod
"I would never" I mumbled
"don't mumble Riley" Dad warned making me nod

I slowly walked out of the room heading towards my bedroom in the hope I wouldn't be pulled back into that conversation, evading that right now was probably for the best
As soon as I got to my room, I couldn't help but laugh at the pile of teddies in the corner of the room right next to the big stuffed panda bear
Before I even had a chance to give them a second thought my phone vibrating from my pocket making me furrow my brows before taking it out

Unknown Number: Hey, it's James. You know that boy you just spent the day with? I hope you don't mind but Piper gave me your number x

I chuckled lightly rolling my eyes at the thought of me not knowing what James he was

Riley: Hey, I'm not sure what James that might be? You might need to narrow it down more.. And it's totally okay, had I known you wanted it I would have given it to you myself x

James: You aren't really going to make me explain who I am are you?x

Riley: Why not? It seems fun x

James: I'll pass, anyway! Onto the reason I wanted to text you this evening x

Riley: go onnn? x

James:

I looked at the photo a few times smiling to myself, it's not really a photo I'd ever  seen of myself before

I looked at the photo a few times smiling to myself, it's not really a photo I'd ever  seen of myself before. It was more carefree, like I had no care in the world
I don't know, I like that side of this

Maybe this wouldn't be completely bad?

"One last run through before we turn into show pigs?" Tessa, one of the kids said instantly grabbing my attention
"Show pigs? Is that really how you guys feel?" I asked
"It's not that, we just have more fun when we're just messing around with you Riley. We don't like the idea of broadcasting it for what? Our parents?" Tessa said making me sigh

Tonight was the kids rec night, meaning they got to perform for anyone who bought tickets in the hope that they would donate to make this place even a little better. But for the last few years it hasn't done too well and I guess it's having it's affects on them

"Say the word guys and i'll pull the plug on tonight for you? You don't have to do this I promise" I said but they all shook their heads
"We want to do this one the off shot it does make a difference" Bradley said making me smile

"In that case, how about we do a different dance instead of the routine for tonight? To get you guys really in the mood?" I smirked before turning on the song that I know is one of their favourites

Before I even had a chance to clap at the dancers I was beaten to the punch making me turn to see James walking in with his parents and Piper in tow making me instantly shift my attention
"must be someone important if Riley's attention has been stolen" I heard Tessa tease

As they walked closer all of them engulfed me into an individual hug
"That was brilliant" Piper cheered looking over at the dancers
"She isn't wrong, you are all very talented" Deborah said making me smile
"They are aren't they" I smiled nodding to the group of kids who rolled their eyes at me
"You have to say that Riley, you're paid to" Carter said
"Actually Carter, I'm not paid at all. Any money we earn tonight pays to keep this place open and to make it better for you lot. You get my time for free" I shrugged

"Tonight?" Damien asked grabbing my attention again
"Tonight is our open night where people are supposed to come and donate but the only people who ever show are our parents" Tessa grimaced
"Which you are happy about because they are still showing they support" I remind her

"Nobody shows?" James asked and I shrugged
"You get a few random people just looking for some entertainment but other then that it's usually their parents" I explained
"Do you parents come?" Deborah asked
"Dad will be in business meetings until late and Mum will be out with the other mothers. They don't have much contact with this place" I said earning a look of disgust from both Damien and James only confusing me a little more

"Leave it with us" James said throwing an arm around my shoulder
"Leave what with you?" I asked this time earning a smirk as he walked out of the room with his Dad

"Uh no thankyou, come back here" I said practically chasing after him
