(Next morning)

Arnav's POV

I woke up to a video call notification from Khushi at 7 am in the morning. She looked tired and I could tell the lack of sleep. There was sadness in her eyes. She wore an old t-shirt that was hanging off her shoulder. Her hair was let down, rather than the usual ponytail.

Her phone seemed to be supported against her laptop

"What are you doing?" - I asked her, rubbing sleep off my eyes.

"Taxes." - she replied.

I heard that they can be a pain. Honestly, I didn't have to worry about that since my dad took care of that for both me and Akash.

"Regarding yesterday, I have some screwups at work and last week was messy and long trying to clear and sort everything out. I thought I had messaged you. I'm sorry " - She explained, getting straight to the point and the reason why she had called.

"I'm sorry too. I accidentally deleted your messages since my storage was full."

Her face had an expression of 'Oh.'

I guess she finished filing her taxes since I felt her eyes on me. Full attention on me, leaving me slightly nervous.

"so, about us?" - she broached the topic.

I remember my words last night -' I am honestly closer to calling off our marriage'.

" I don't know what to say." - I replied honestly, not sure if I can get used to her working lifestyle.

"I honestly don't mind you calling off our marriage. This is going to be my life. As much as I will try and accommodate you in my life, you are not going to be my first priority. I might sound selfish saying that this, but - I am my first priority. And I don't want to be yours either. You are just going to be one of the very many planets in my galaxy. I need every other planet like my family, my work, or my friends. And I need some more than others. If you think that this won't work for you, we can call off this marriage. If that's what you really want. I can explain it to your parents" - she offered

Damn, I didn't know that my words of anger had such an impact. I'm glad that she offered to explain to my parents since my marriage also affects Akash's since we were supposed to get married on the same day. Did I really want to call off our marriage?

Before I could even reply to her, she cut me off saying that she is getting a call from her dad and that will call me later.

Dear God, what have I done?

"Goodbye" - she replied

This isn't goodbye. There never will be a goodbye. Not for us.

The whole day I tried to be busy with work, hoping to distract myself from the elephant in the room.
Only when I left the office, I gathered the courage to think about Khushi and called her to only find that her mobile was switched off.
And then I remembered that she was supposed to be flying back home around this time
I called up Nk, hoping that she vented her frustration to Nk
And from Nk's tone, he has no clue what expired between us this morning.
