Fleur Cordelia Verstappen is an American-Dutch-Belgian singer, model and actress. She is the daughter of racing drivers Jos Verstappen, who also competed in Formula One, and Sophie Kumpen and is the younger sister of RedBull Formula One driver, Max Verstappen. A subject of widespread public interest with a vast fanbase, she has influenced the music industry, popular culture and politics through her songwriting, artistry, entrepreneurship, and advocacy. Verstappen began professional songwriting at age 12.
Much of Verstappen's early career was in commercials, television shows, and films. Due to child labour laws restricting the amount of time children can be filmed in a day, Verstappen only had small roles that got bigger as she got older. In 2001, Verstappen began appearing in episodes of NBC's television sitcom 'FRIENDS', as Ross Geller's only daughter, Luna Geller, along side Cole Sprouse. She appeared in the sitcom Glee from 2009 - 2015 as Anna Fabray.
Verstappen's parents separated when she was young, after which she lived with her father and her brother Max. However, in 2014, Verstappen's father disowned her when she went on to pursue her music career instead of racing, and she went to live with her mother.
EARLY LIFE
Verstappen was born on May 11th, 1999 in Hasselt, Belgium, but moved to America in 2014 to live with her mother. She and her brother have a close bond and when the younger Verstappen can, she flies out to see his races. When she was younger, Verstappen would go to all her brother's early races, including his karting races in 2012 where she met Charles Leclerc and the two became good friends.
MUSIC CAREER
One of the world's best-selling musicians, Verstappen has sold over 400 million records as of 2019. She is the highest-grossing female touring act, the most-streamed woman on Spotify and Apple Music, and the first multi-billionaire with music as the main source of income. Six of her albums have opened with over one million sales in a week. The 2023 Time Person of the Year, Verstappen has appeared on lists such as Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Songwriters of All Time, Billboard's Greatest of All Time Artists, and Forbes' World's 100 Most Powerful Women. Her accolades include 14 Grammy Awards, a Primetime Emmy Award, 40 American Music Awards, 40 Billboard Music Awards, and 23 MTV Video Music Awards; she has won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year, the MTV Video Music Award for Video of the Year, and the IFPI Global Recording Artist of the Year a record four times each.
