¤ALPHA JARED¤

I was at my desk with paperwork piled to the top when I heard a knock. "Come in", I said to who ever was outside my door. The door opened to reveal my son, James, who I motioned to come and sit on the chair at the other end of my desk. He sat with a grim expression and I already knew the reason for his visit. He wanted to be Alpha. He just didn't understand there are certain reasons I won't step down and let him run the pack. "Son, we've already discussed this issue and I've told you the reasons for not stepping down", I said exhausted. I didn't want to argue with my son again, our relationship is already below friendly. It seems we never stop arguing and we always disagree on everything.

His eyes flashed and he looked angry and relentless. "No, those aren't good reasons and you know it", he said stubbornly. I knew his Alpha genes were kicking in and his wolf didn't like anyone having authority over him but that's just how they are. They begin to inherit the dominant genes and they defy every rule. That's why they are supposed to get Alpha title at the age of eighteen because they tend to challenge the Alpha and as Alpha you don't back down from a fight.

I didn't want to challenge my son because an Alpha challenge is a fight to the death and I knew neither of us wanted that. But he had to understand I have expectations for him to meet and until then I will not step down. "Whether those are good enough reasons for you or not, they are my expectations and I will not step down until you meet them", my voice was rising and my wolf was climbing to the surface. He didn't like anybody defying him and wanted them to show submission but I knew that wouldn't go over well with my son so I pushed him back down. "To be Alpha and for me to step down, that is what you have to-" I was cut off as I was linked, 'Alpha there are rouges on the northern border', one of my newly turned pups spoke rushed and slightly panicked. I recognized her as Michelle the late bloomer and I knew she had no chance against ruthless rouges, she hasn't even began training.

Without hesitation I stood up and rushed out the door, 'Get out of there Michelle we're on our way, RUN!', I commanded. I couldn't let her get hurt. After linking her, I linked my best enforcers informing them of the rouges and ran out the backdoor with my son following behind me. Although he didn't know where we were going he knew I was in full Alpha mode meaning it had to be serious. Running out the backyard, I shifted into my black with gray fur wolf and ran at top speed toward the northern border. What was bad was that the northern border was a long distance from the pack house and although I'm in wolf form running at full speed it would still take some time.

Side by side we ran and I could hear my enforcers gaining speed behind us, catching up. I could hear faint growling, whining, howling, and the snapping of teeth and my worries went straight for Michelle. I knew she had it rough and I knew she didn't know how to fight which only made me worry more and push my legs faster. I had to protect my pack, my pack members need to be protected.

Another howl of pain and silence overwhelmed the forest and I felt complete sadness. Losing a new member of the pack was devastating, especially when that pack member was a pup. I felt enraged. How dare they trespass my land and attack my pack!

I pushed myself to go faster but came to a sudden stop as I took in the scene in front of me. A rouge wolf lying in the ground bleeding, dead. A surge of pride came over me as I realized Michelle had most likely killed him. There were four rouges advancing on Michelle but she wasn't frightened or cowering down. No, she was crouched ready to attack as they all growled at each other.

A loud growl was heard from my side and my son looked livid until he sprang forward. The fight broke loose.

¤MICHELLE¤

Seeing everything from my wolfs perspective was indescribable. All her feelings felt as if they were my own and I felt all her animalistic instincts. When I felt the powerful aura of the Alpha, I slowly rose to the surface and waited beneath the invisible layer between my wolf and I, waiting for the right time to gain control and run back home. Right when the fight broke loose, I took control and ran. I could feel that Shelly was unwilling, trying to hold on to the control I had temporarily gave her. Key word, temporarily. I didn't mind that she was in control but I knew if she was she wouldn't have left the fight so willingly.

'Hell no I wouldn't', she grumbled grumpily. I could practically imagine her with a pout and crossing her arms like a five year old who couldn't get a cookie before dinner.

I chuckled but it came out as if I was choking because I was in my wolf form. I didn't comment back, but kept running to my house. It didn't sound like anyone was home. When I reached the backdoor I slowed to a walk. Shit, it's closed. Looking left then right, I shifted back and threw myself in my house slamming the door, locking it, and closing the curtains letting out a breath of relief. Thank gosh no one saw me.

I walked upstairs toward my room nude. It felt weird because I wasn't really used to it but I didn't mind that much because no one was home. Opening my room door and to my closet I quickly picked and put on undergarments and picked out a pair of short shorts and a plain gray hoody and put it on over. I went to my bed and sat down thinking. I didn't know if I should go back out there or wait for them to get back and go say thanks or wait till tomorrow.

'You should go out there', I rolled my eyes. I knew she was going to say that.

'No because we'll just be a distraction', I told her. She huffed but stayed silent, probably being a grouch in a corner. I'll go visit then, today when they get back. With that said I laid down feeling the adrenalin burn out before exhaustion kicked in leaving me drained. I fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow.
