I drew—a human? A MALE human??

Some of you may know this boy by name—Samuel Derry. He has previously appeared in an earlier chapter of this book (but not a physical appearance). He is a character from The Biter, an old werewolf story of mine, and he's the one who met the wolf outside the drugstore and later tracked it to its hideout.

Adventurous and thoughtful, seventeen-year-old Sam loves roaming the city and people-watching. Abandoned buildings in particular draw him in, partly due to his fascination of the eerie and unsettling—liminal spaces are a special interest of his, the Backrooms in particular. But don't misunderstand his like of the uncanny. He also appreciates the comfortable and safe, and his idea of an ideal place is an old English cottage surrounded by fields and forests.

At school he is on the more popular side, but rarely actually interacts with anyone. Though he can be very confident and has a talent for putting people at ease, social interactions often make him feel awkward and he tends to keep to himself. But he has a reputation of kindness and respectfulness; and his enemies, though real, are few.
