Vandita's povThe sun began to rise, casting a warm glow over my chamber. The cheerful chirping of the birds gently woke me from my slumber. As I opened my eyes, a bright smile crept across my face. I looked towards the window, feeling a surge of joy and anticipation. I walked to the window and saw the beautiful sun shining brightly as usual. With a grateful heart, I joined my hands together to take the blessings of the sun.
I couldn't believe that the day I had been waiting for so long had finally arrived. I glanced at my mehendi, which had turned a deep, beautiful shade of maroon. I smiled, knowing it was a sign of good fortune and deep love.
Just then, I heard the attendants entering the room, and behind them came Maa sa and Dadisa. I smiled as they walked toward me. Dadisa came first and kissed my forehead, making me feel calm and blessed. I smiled back, feeling thankful.
Maa sa kissed my forehead too and said, "Today is a very special day, my child. You look absolutely radiant"
Her words made me happy and a little nervous. I hugged them both, feeling their love all around me. Today, I was about to start a new journey, and with their blessings, I felt ready to take the first step.
Maa sa smiled softly at me and said, "Today, you're going to be the wife of the crown prince and the future queen of Rajgarh, it's a very big responsibility and I know you will shine through it"
Dadisa gently added, "Yes, my child. From now on, you will have double responsibilities on your shoulders" her voice filled with emotion. "Hume apni mehendi dikhaiye" (Show me your mehendi)
I held out my hands, showing her the deep red patterns. Both Dadisa and Maa sa smiled warmly, their eyes shining with pride and love.
Their eyes began to fill with tears—a mix of joy and emotion that said more than words ever could. I gently hugged them both, my heart full of love and a little ache knowing how much they meant to me. I wiped their tears softly, wanting to comfort them just as they had always comforted me.
Dadisa held my hands and kissed them gently. Her touch was warm but carried a quiet sadness too. Maa sa stood beside her, smiling through the tears she tried to hide.
I stepped forward and hugged Maa sa tightly. She held me close, and in that silent hug, we shared all the feelings we couldn't say out loud. When she let go, her smile was full of pride and love, but with a trace of sadness.
"Remember..." she said softly, "today is just the beginning of a new chapter in your life. Embrace it with all your heart."
I nodded, her words settling deep within me. With one last loving look at both of them, I felt stronger—ready to step into this new journey with hope and excitement.
"Stop making your Maa sa cry now... Get her ready" Maa sa said with a gentle laugh and kissed my forehead one last time.
"Yes, Queen!" the attendants replied quickly.
