Only you can love me this way

Monday morning, Karlyle leaves the hotel early so that he can meet Ash as soon as possible. After getting on the private plane, he leaves a text message to Ash saying that he'll be arriving in the morning in British time. The reply comes back quickly. Ash says that he'll come to pick him up at the airport, so Karlyle doesn't need to call a driver. At that, Karlyle's heart is relieved. His tense nerves are loosened. He really wants to touch his lover right now.

Yesterday, he wasn't able to properly talk with Ash. The incident with Richard Cavendish had taken up so much space in his mind that the moment he saw Ash's face, he felt like he'd confess it all. Because of that, he gave up on doing FaceTime with Ash. He tried to text Ash every hour, but Richard kept bothering him since the morning of the Grand Prix final, as if he had no intention of leaving Karlyle alone.

Karlyle shifts his seat slightly on the plane. His eyebrows furrow, he stares out the window. The breakfast served by the flight attendant is left untouched in the quiet atmosphere. Richard was so shameless, to the point that Karlyle even wondered if he was always this kind of person.

'No matter how much I think about it, I'm better off than that person. Why can't it be me?'

'I don't understand what you're saying.'

As if nothing had happened the previous day, Richard did not give in even though Karlyle had turned him down with respect.

'You are only engaged, you can break it off anytime. Marry me.'

Sitting next to him, he kept making these remarks throughout the match. Having been ignoring him patiently, Karlyle, finally had to say something.

'That's such a naive thing to say. Richard, you are the only heir of the Duke. He won't allow you to be with an Alpha who can't bear children.'

Saying that "he loves Ash more than anyone else in the world" wouldn't work for Richard. That'd only ignite Richard's competitiveness, so Karlyle decided to point out the reality.

'Alpha can get pregnant, too. I'm a dominant Alpha, so that's possible. Lyle's parents are not dominant, but they were able to give birth to you and your brother though?'

However, Richard seemed to have lost his mind more than he thought. Hearing that, Karlyle decided it'd be best to silently ignore him. The result of the miraculous case of Alpha's pregnancy was him and Kyle, so he couldn't possibly talk back.

The Duchess requested him to take Richard to Shanghai, it was for work as well. But yesterday, because of Richard's confession, he left the party early. Richard still called him Lyle and touched him without hesitation. The more he rejected him, the more brazen and challenging Richard got, so he didn't know how to deal with Richard. Their status was also one of the factors at stake. He couldn't let any unpleasant situations happen between their families because of his personal affairs.

However, amidst this sudden situation, the thing that disturbed him the most was that Richard confessed. The fact that he had been confessed to by someone else when he was about to marry Ash was uncomfortable.

He knew Ash loved and cared for him, but he was afraid that something bad would ruin their marriage before it could even begin. Karlyle wanted to make their  marriage perfect. But now someone has confessed to him. What would happen if Ash found out about this? This was an uncharted territory that the man named Karlyle Frost had never been through.

Besides that, he has a laundry list of mixed feelings to sort through now. He felt guilty, and confused. To him, the feeling of love was close to an illusion. Although he was now living a life where he felt "loved" for the first time in his life after meeting Ash, before that, Karlyle didn't even know what love was. His love for his family was more like a wholehearted devotion, and since he had never been given affection openly, the idea of being loved and giving it in return had always been so foreign. In that sense, he loved Ash of course, but he couldn't understand why Richard loved him. There was nothing in Karlyle that would attract Richard.
