Ash told him to meet at 4 p.m. Quite an awkward time. A time that is neither lunch or dinner. This time is somewhat difficult for Karlyle. Even asking Ash to have an afternoon tea seems awkward.

Karlyle is indebted to Ash in this deal, so he has no intention of pressuring Ash on the meeting time.

Generally speaking, the meeting location should still be somewhere private - if Karlyle isn't wrong, it should be at his own house, or a hotel. But he's leaning towards the latter. His mansion has been vacant for more than half a year, plus he has never invited guests there.

After booking a room on the highest floor of his mother's hotel, he quickly takes care of his work and arrives at Connaught on time.

Like last time, Ash has come first. Wearing a thin shirt and black pants, his appearance is very natural and elegant. All eyes are fixed on his tall figure standing in the hall. This is a polite place, so no one talks to Ash like they did last time, but the receptionists keep sneaking glances at him.

This fact is strangely unpleasant. Taking exactly five steady steps, Karlyle stops in front of Ash. Having been reading the magazine, Ash turns to look at him.

"Hi."

Ash smiles. The corners of his lips curl up as usual, but somehow, his eyes seem more hooded today.

"Did you have any troubles coming here?" Karlyle asks.

"Not at all."

Ash says and closes the magazine. Quickly glancing over the cover of the magazine, Karlyle remains silent. His mouth feels dry from some unknown tension.

Standing against the wall, Ash puts his hand on Karlyle's waist. His arm wraps around his back, as if it's the most natural thing in the world. The corners of his eyes curl up, and then, his lips touch his ear.

"Then, shall we go?"

Licking his lips, Karlyle nods slightly. The severe and unfamiliar vibrations in his heart right now are no different from when he's about to sign an important contract. Keeping a stoic face, he walks toward the elevator. Neither of them say anything. Just when Ash's going to say something again, the elevator door opens.

But coincidentally, a familiar face appears. It's Aiden Heywood. Aiden runs the Heywood Hotel, so it wouldn't be strange for him to show up here.

But why does it have to be today?

"Karlyle?"

Aiden frowns at him. His eyes then shift towards Ash. The atmosphere is tense. This is the silence that often appears when Alphas gather in the same place.

"Aiden."

"What are you doing here? You didn't come to the meeting today."

Hearing that, Ash looks at Karlyle for a moment. Maintaining his neutral expression, Karlyle replies in a monotonous way.

"This is my personal matter."

At that, Ash smiles softly, then he holds his hand out to Aiden.

"Hello. My name is Ash Jones."

Staring at his hand with a strange look, Aiden also introduces himself. They only shake hands briefly then immediately let go.

"I'm Aiden Heywood."

Although not as much as Ash, Aiden usually has a smile on his face, but right now, Aiden can't hide his suspicion.

"If we have nothing to discuss, why don't you get out of the way?" Karlyle says sternly.
