"Come on, Florian!" Juliana begged, "I can take it!"

"That's a terrible idea, Julie, and you know it," Florian retorted.

The two were back at home once again, helping her with rearranging the garden. The two and their pokemon all worked as a team to carry around big pots and various stones as the garden was being remade. As they did their little jobs, Juliana had requested from her brother a terrible idea.

A sparring match.

Florian, naturally, declined. That sounded like a terrible idea. Because it was. His garchomp would sweep the floor with her team. Yet she seemed keen on it, almost as if she was trying to prove something.

"Come on, Florian! I'm thinking about tackling the gyms too! Give me a hand here!"

"Fine" Florian grumbled, "but I'm taking it easy on you, so don't be getting all proud if you somehow net yourself a win."

After helping their beloved mother out on her gardening rearrangements, the two set out to the beachside battlefield, which was practically Nemona's backyard. Both twins had first had their first battles against Nemona, and both also had it here. It was a living memory in that way, a sign to show how far they've come in these few months. Especially as the winter nears its end and with it comes the promise of spring.

Cold sand and white lines faint due to time and low maintenance. The twins stood on opposite sides of the field, while their two respective steeds sat by each other's sides, seeking to observe the battle. Juliana was doing all kinds of stretches, getting ready to showcase her epic battle skills against her brother. Her baby brother. Her weird baby brother. Her weird baby brother who was statistically proven to be in the less-than-1/10ths of all trainers in Paldea to get 3 gym badges. Her weird baby brother who has all 8 badges now. Her weird baby brother who gained said accolade in an incredibly short amount of time.

Yeah. That one.

Yeah... this was a horrible idea. But there's no backing down now!

The sky was painted orange thanks to the beautiful sunset out west. Florian held out a simple dusk ball, "ready when you are, sis"

"Oh yeah! Here I go!" Juliana threw her pokeball, sending out her quaquaval. The water starter stretched out its feathery arms and tail. Chirping to the heavens with an elegant pose. It had suffered a hard-fought but humiliating loss to Arven's mabosstiff, and now it was eager to prove its worth even more. Florian responds by sending out his grimmsnarl. The hairy ogre grunts, crossing its arms as it sees the dancing bird. The two contrasted each other quite well. One was bright and jovial, graceful in its steps. The other appeared rapacious and stocky, monstrous in both visage and prowess.

Speed against strength.

"Alright, aqua step!" Juliana went on the offensive. The bird speeds forward, its legs once injured from battle now fully-healed. It rocketed in a mad dash right towards the ogre, but as it did, grimmsnarl extended both arms out in response.

"Trick!" Florian commanded. Spheres of light leave both pokemon's bodies, before each respective light enters the other's form. All before quaquaval could even reach the fairy. By the time the bird did reach the hairy troll, it had somehow lost a chunk of its momentum. Its heel smashed like a hammer right on grimmsnarl's shoulder, but the dark-fairy type doesn't even flinch.

"Spirit break" Florian called out. Normally, his grimmsnarl used play rough. But for this one, he had his trusty troll relearn a weaker move. The jab was fast, and a direct hit given the short range between them. A direct spear-jab into the abdomen, causing the bird to groan in pain as it sluggishly made its way back to the other side of the field.
