MARI'S MENACE (OMORI AU)

CHAPTER 12: hospital

I wake up in a hospital room, and Mari sits next to me.

"Aubrey! You're awake!"

"Mari? What happened? Why are we in the hospital?"

"Hero came to get me and found us both unconscious, covered in deep knife scars."

"Omori," I whisper.

"Yeah, I think it was him. I have a question for you though."

"Yeah?"

"Was that really Sunny?"

"Yes, it was."

Kel runs to the room and slams the door open. He's crying.

"Aubrey!" He yells.

"Kel!"

"Thank god you're okay! Hero texted me and I ran here as soon as I could!"

I ruffle his hair. Mari smiles.

"Is this the Kel and Aubrey I know? You guys used to always fight."

"I guess Sunny's passing brought us together." He says.

I hear the wind blow through the room. The door opens slightly. It was Hero and Basil. Basil looked sad, and Hero looked worried.

"Mari? What are you doing out of bed?" Hero asks.

"I wanted to see Aubrey."

"I could have checked for you."

Basil pushes Hero aside.

"Guys. Can I say something?"

"Sure."

"I'm so sorry. I was just so angry that he would do this that I hurt you."

Basil hugs Mari and me.

"I forgive you, Basil," I say.

"Same here." Mari agrees.

I attempt to get up.

"Aubrey no!" Hero tries to stop me.

"GAH! AHH! IT HURTS!" I scream in pain.

Hero helps me get back into a less painful position.

"Why did it hurt so much!?" I ask.

"They had to give you stitches that tightly hold your scars together," Kel explains.

"Now that both of you are awake, WHAT IN THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING!?"

"Now that's the Hero I know," Mari whispers to me.

I laugh. Hero stares at me, clearly pissed.

"Alright, alright. Let me explain before Hero tears our faces off."

Kel bonks Hero's head.

"Alright, so remember Sunny right?"

"...yeah?"

"Well, he owned a universe called headspace. He would go there whenever his trauma got bad. Sunny kinda became someone else. His name was Omori."

"What does this have to do with you?"

"Well, eventually Sunny and Omori became separate entities. Omori started to bully Sunny to the point that he committed suicide."

Kel starts to tear up again. Hero comforts him.

"When he passed, Omori thought that headspace would belong to him, but it didn't. He transferred ownership to me."

"You own his old coping mechanism?" Basil asks.

"Yeah, pretty much. I would go on adventures with headspace Sunny, who was revealed to be our Sunny but in a different form. Mari decided to sleep over last night and I found her in some of his repressed memories in the headspace. We eventually fought Omori and lost at first. Sunny defended us and we then won. So I'm guessing the damage from Omori transferred and affected our real-life bodies."

"Oh. Well then. Is he dead?" Hero asks.

"Yep. All gone." Mari says.

"Good. He should stay dead."

Hero kisses Mari.

I close my eyes for a moment.

"We should let her rest."

I hear everyone leave. I try to fall asleep.
