"Papa!" A voice yelled out.
Karthik smiled to himself. "Haan ji?"
"Papa, suno na!" Like a gush of wind, Karthik's youngest stood before him, short of breath.
"Sunao na Tadpole No. Char."
"Mumma kaha hain? Aap dono ko na ek news deni hai." Kaira said with a light in her eyes.
Kaira, the youngest of four and the light and joy of Goenka House.
"Ji theke bulalete hain aapki mumma ko. Arrey Kaira ki Mumma aji sunthi ho?" Karthik called out, Kaira stifiling a laugh.
More than thirty years of their marriage and the romance was still the same.
Naira walked in, regal in a beautiful saree, looking just the same. "Boliye Papa ki Pari, kyun ghar ko sar par bithaya hain?"
"Mumma, Papa, mein aap dono ko pehle batana chathi thi, phir Mimi, Dadu aur Dadi ko batenge."
"Kaira magar batao toh baath kya hain?" Naira patiently repeated.
Kaira smiled and handed her parents the file. "Kaira nahi , Dr. Kaira! Mere exam ke results agaya, mein doctor bangayi!"
Karthik and Naira jumped to their feet, wrapping their hands around their kid. "So proud of you baccha."
Karthik kissed his daughter's forehead. Naira placed a kajal dot behind her ear. "Meri beti doctor ban gayi!"
Kaira pulled back, smiling radiantly. "Mujhe na do hafton mein meri medical camp ke liye nikalna hain. Two mahine ki social service ke baad mujhe yahan Udaipur mein hi naukri lag jayegi."
"Wah wah, meri Tadpole No. 4 itni badi hogayi." Naira gushed, a little teary eyed. Her youngest was done with college, officially stepping into adulthood.
"Par Mumma, Papa, ek cheez maangu?"
"Haan baccha jo chahe maango."
"Posting ke liye mujhe choice mili hain. Mein medical camp Kasauli mein karna chahathi hoon."
Karthik and Naira exchanged confused glance. "Kasauli kyun? Yahan paas mein karlo na beta."
"Nahi Mumma, Kasauli mein hi karna hain."
Naira became suspicious, clutching the end of her dupatta. "Kyun?"
Kaira took a deep breath in and mustered the required courage. "Tadpole No. 2 ko ghar laane."
Karthik and Naira froze.
"Kaira....."
