Naira stood in front of the mirror of her dressing table, fixing her look when she felt a pair of arms circle her waist.
"Kya baath hain aaj mendak ko tar tar ke bajaye romance sujh raha hain?"
Karthik laughed, pressing his cheek to Naira's. "Aur nahi toh kya, aaj ke din iss mendak ko uski sherni mili. Romance toh banta hain."
Naira turned around in Karthik's arms, fixing his tie. Despite the few specks of grey in his hair and worry lines on his forehead, he looked just as dashing as he did the day Naira met him.
"Karthik tum chodo, mujhe taiyyar hona hain." Naira playfully nudged him, trying to fix her pleats. "Offo, yeh saari theek se bandh kyun nahi rahi."
"Arrey, rukho." Karthik got down on one knee, carefully fixed her pleats one by one.
"Karthik...." Naira dragged his name with a smile.
"Hmmm?"
"Yeh sab romance sab theek hain, lekin yaad hain na tumhe ki tumhari jawani gayi. Ghutno mein dard hoga utho!"
"Arrey meri biwi ke liye ghutne kya cheez, dard hone do!" Karthik paused and glared at his wife. "And for your information, meri jawani ab bhi mere saath hi hain! Kahi nahi gayi!"
"Acha ji." Naira smiled at her husband, both of them freezing when they heard someone clear their throat.
Karthik's hand fell from her saree pleats to the floor, supporting his weight as he glanced around hurridely.
Kaira, Aarohi, Muskaan, Akshara and Abhinav stood sheepishly at the door. Kaira, Akshara and Aarohi had mischevious grins on their faces while Muskaan and Abhinav looked apologetic.
Karthik, still kneeling on the floor, chuckled nervously. "Arrey baccho, aao aao. Main woh bas, Mumma ka jhumka gir gaya tha isiliye doondh raha tha!" He explained, getting to his feet.
Kaira tried to stilfe her laugh. "Jhumka gira re, bareilly ke bazaar mein."
"Kya bola?"
"Kuch nahi Papa, bas Mimi aap dono ko neeche bhula rahi thi. Puja ka samey hogaya."
Karthik stared at his kids. "Hum dono ko bhulane ke liye, puri paltan bhejthi Dadi ne?"
"Haan agar aap phir se romance karna shuru kardenge toh? Isiliye, special forces bhi bhijvaya."
"Mujhse tum shetaano se toh yeh umeed thi lekin Muskaan aur Abhinav? Tum dono toh meri side par ho na?"
"Arrey Muskaan aur Abhinav-ji hi special forces hain. Ki unka toh lihaaz rakh kar aap dono baccho jaise romance na karte phire." Aarohi said, linking her arms with Kaira's. "Aap dono phata phat, jhumka doondho aur neeche aajaye varna agli baar bhulane ke liye khud Mimi upar aajaeyngi."
