James:

He ran into the forbidden forest. Taking coners, he knew too well by now. He had found this beautiful spot last full moon, but if Regulus did not want to go there, then that was alright.

It had been a stupid idea anyway. How could James have forgotten the trauma Regulus had to connect to the forest. How could he expect Regulus to actually want to go there even after what happened. He should've just put everything to the lake, like it was originally planned.

Midway, James stopped. This was stupid. Why run as a human when he could simply transform into Prongs?

He transformed, and just like that, he was running on all four as a big and elegant stag through the forest he knew a bit to well, given the fact it was forbidden to even be there.

He arrived at the little spot he had chosen. Big trees, a little cave, on which he had hung fairy lights, and the picnic stuff he had prepared.

He quickly put the food into small boxes and put away the fairy lights. He then started folding the blanket and got the art stuff.

He quickly re-transformed and started his way back. When he was too close to the school to stay in his animagi, he transformed back into his human form. Right then, he decided that there was no time to be in doubt. And on top of that, no reason. Regulus liked him. Regulus had said that under a truth potion.

James could very well still fuck up. But to be honest, he didn't want to believe that Regulus would break up with him over something as small as this.

Well, was it really a small mistake? How could he have possibly been thinking that Regulus would actually want to go into the foresg. Why did he think that? Like, did he just want Regulus to relive the situarion?

No. Wait. He said no self-doubt, didn't he? There was no need for that. And Sirius was right. James was human, and he makes mistakes like everybody else. And if someone couldn't accept that, then they weren't worth James' time.

He was walking over the grounds when he saw Regulus sitting at a beautiful tree. Looking at the water.

James quickened his step and shortly later arrived next to Regulus. The small bag at his side. "Cariño, you will have to put on some kind of blind fold until I am done preparing. I want that surprise effect to stay."

Regulus turned around, obviously being startled. "Can't I just help you prepare, and then we have the memory of that?" He asked.

"I mean, we could.... But at least let me be romantic. Pleaseee. If I would tell my dad that I have let you help me prepare our date, he would have a heart attack simply because of how unromantic I am." James said. "We couldn't possibly do that to him."

Regulus rolled his eyes, but James could see him fighting a smile. "Fine OK. But the blindfold will be all glitter. And it better not ruin my hair."

"Ooh yeah, of course. Have I, by the way, said how much I adore the glitter?" James said, handing Regulus a jacket, which will have to work as a blind fold.

"Oh dang it. Now, I have set the standards to high. I am not going to wear glitter every day. I can tell you that." Regulus dead panned, binding the jacket around his head.

"You are breaking my heart, Cariño. Truly. How could you let me see what you look like with glitter on your face and then not wear every single day?" James said the drama was just on point. Well, if you ask him, that was. He then took the blanket out of the bag. "or no wait. I rethought this. If you wear glitter every day, then there will be too much competition."
