All mermaid's within the realm of the sea were divided up into major houses.
You were a part of the Fishtail house.
And out of all the rules to exist within your house.
One was made crystal clear.
NEVER, under any circumstances, INTERACT WITH THE JELLYFISH HOUSE.
Jellyfish were mostly known by your family as deceitful liars due to them having double crossed your father once.

You were practically the pride and joy of your family.
Having been baked with an overall albino complexion. With mostly white scales along with a sickly pink dough color (and some of your scales were also tinted with the light pink color).
These colors were highly popular amongst mermaids so this naturally made you a talking point.

You weren't too fond of the attention, often finding it claustrophobic and sickening.
You wanted nothing more than to break free of your prestige and become a usual person.
However you could never achieve that in the kingdom you resided in.
So you often made a habit of swimming out of the kingdom and out into the open ocean.
It was a rather enjoyable adventure.
Considering you could finally be alone and no longer have to worry about anything else.

You enjoyed swimming through the large beds of kelp and seaweed.
Gliding through multicolored coral reefs had to be a high point for most of your days.
Being purely undisturbed by anyone.
Being able to admire and appreciate the ocean with no distractions to see.
It was as close to peace as you could get on a day to day basis.

This day was supposed to be like any other.

You found yourself lounging on a rocky ledge, overseeing a large coral reef. You watched as the fish poked around in the coral, looking for snacks and other such things.
The light current was perfect, it caused your hair to flow but it wasn't strong enough to be a bother to you.
In a way you found the current soothing and a harsh difference from your normal, climate controlled, room.
You closed your eyes. Maybe you'd take a nap as you never really got to take many of those while at home.
You stretched, curling up into a comfortable position as you allowed yourself to relax and fall asleep.
