Li Weiwei decided to start her task after that day, she was known for her determination, and once she set her sights on something, she pursued it relentlessly. She had always believed in taking the initiative, and her mission on He Jian was no different. She was ready to take the leap.
One day at the academy, Li Weiwei spotted He Jian in the cafeteria with the other elites. This was her chance. She approached his table with a wide smile, her heart pounding.
"Hey, everyone! Mind if I join you?" Li Weiwei asked, trying to sound casual.
Li Qin looked up from his book, his expression a mix of surprise and curiosity. "Oh, uh, sure, Li Weiwei," he replied reluctantly.
Her arrival at their table sent ripples of tension through the group. She approached He Jian with a bright smile and handed him a beautifully prepared lunchbox. "Hey, Jian," she said, her voice gentle. "I made your favorite—spaghetti and muffins."
He Jian would often glance at the muffins, his expression betraying nothing. He'd accept them with a polite nod, but his thoughts seemed a thousand miles away, focused on someone else.
Li Weiwei's heart raced as she launched into a conversation, talking about everything from their shared interests to the weather. She was determined to keep his attention. But little did she know, He Jian's friends were watching from with a teasing smile.
The other four boys exchanged glances, there is something off about their emotion, simmering beneath the surface. Zhang Tian, trying to hide his disappointment, muttered to the group, "Man, I wish someone would make lunch for me like that."
Chen Wu chimed in, "Yeah, Weiwei is such a great cook. It's lucky for He Jian that she likes him so much."
Li Qin and Liang Xiu nodded in agreement, their eyes locked on the scene before them. They couldn't help but feel a pang of envy, knowing that Li Weiwei's affections were reserved for He Jian alone.
They know since they're little that He Jian is Li Weiwei's special someone, she always likes to portray as He Jian's girlfriend in front of everyone.
He Jian let it slide since for him it's only a childish behavior, he always thought that someday Li Weiwei will grow up mature and find her deserving partner in life. Therefore, seeing Li Weiwei's enthusiasm for He Jian is pretty normal, well it doesn't mean they agree with it.
As the lunch period came to an end, Li Weiwei gave He Jian a playful nudge and said, "Don't forget to bring back my lunchbox, okay?"
Without waiting for the reply of the aloof boy, Li Weiwei departed with a wave, leaving the four boys to grapple with their feelings of discomfort and longing?
After she left, Liang Xiu couldn't help but voice what they were all thinking. "It's clear as day, guys. Weiwei's head over heels for He Jian. What chance do the rest of us even have?" Which earns a chuckle from the group. It seems like a joke but it somehow mirrors their feelings.
The days passed, Li Weiwei's pursuit intensified. She showed up at the library when He Jian was reading, bombarded him with texts and memes, much to his annoyance.
Li Weiwei decided to try a different approach. She heard from a friend Mei Li, one of her snobby friends, that He Jian loved spending time in the library. So, she decided to spend more time there herself, hoping to run into him.
She picked up a novel she had no interest in and pretended to read it while discreetly glancing around. Finally, she spotted him at a table, engrossed in a thick textbook. Li Weiwei took a deep breath and approached.
"Hey, Jian," she said, trying to sound casual once more. "Need any help with that?"
He Jian looked up, momentarily surprised to see her. "Oh, hey, Li Weiwei," he said, slightly distracted. "I think I've got it covered."
