013, BYE-BYE, BABY
THE WEEK IN GREECE had flown by extremely quickly and before they knew it, the teenagers were back in Boston. Avery sat in the driver's seat of her car, wiping her teary eyes. She was leaving for Yale the next morning. Yes, you heard me - she said yes to Yale!
Although, this move meant she wouldn't see her friends or family for a while. Avery Valentine had excused herself from the get-together that was currently happening in her living room. A funny feeling suddenly struck her and she became overwhelmed with the thought that she would never get moments like these every day anymore.
A quiet knock at her window startles the girl. She looks to her left to see a frowning Anabell Carter. Avery sighs, knowing she can't lie to her best friend.
"Avery!" Anabell whines, hating to see the girl like this.
Avery softly opens the car door, stepping out of the still vehicle. Her body is immediately engulfed in Anabell's tight grasp. The two girls broke down in the warmth of each other's arms, giggling through their tears.
"I'm gonna miss you so much, Vee," Anabell hiccups, her bottom lip quivering.
The Valentine girl choked out a sob at the other girl. "Bells!" it was Avery's time to whine in sadness. "You are my favourite person ever. I cannot imagine living without you. Or Soph for that matter!"
The two girls embraced in silence, with the occasional sob or giggle.
"I love you, Vee."
"I love you, Bells!"
A cough behind the pair was heard, both girls stretching their necks to see who it was, too lazy to leave their comforting hug.
"Dylan!" Avery mopes, watching as the boy's eyes glaze over.
Dylan Alcaraz chuckled, opening his arms for both girls. "Fuck you, Vee. I never cry! You've broken my no-crying streak!"
The three laugh together, not caring how mushy they are. "I'm going to miss you both so awfully bad. I can't believe they're making me leave so soon!"
Dylan and Anabell only hum in response with frowns prominent on their faces.
After a few more minutes of comfortable silence, the three friends make their way back inside. Nick, Jess and Matt were pushing and shoving each other on the couch, trying to beat each other in Mario Kart. Meanwhile, Chris and baby Sophie were on FaceTime with Nathan - who was currently in Spain.
The pink afternoon sky soon faded into darkness and the stars were shining for the moon. The seven teenagers were huddled together in the living room laughing loudly at Chris's horrid attempt of gaslighting.
