Rosie's POV

"actually, better yet you prepare the date for us, I want it romantic"

Chloe's grating voices repeats in my mind like a broken record, and her mocking grin imprinted in my memory

I shouldn't be too bothered, back when I was with Tanner I was always in charge of planning our dates, and as a hopeless romantic it shouldn't be too hard to come up with a date idea for Chloe and Mr Blake, but theres just something that leaves an awful taste in my mouth

"Ms. Badeaux are you still with us" Mr Blake calls, I look up to see everyone at the table is looking at me, heat rushes to my cheeks, I nodded clearing my throat focusing back on the reports in front of me

I heard a scoff followed by a low chuckle from my right side, at a glance I saw Gabe who was shaking his head at me, mumbling something underneath his breath, because of our distance I couldn't hear it

Ever since that day the meeting moved up he has been throwing invisible daggers at me, and glaring at me as if he had laser eyes and wanted to vaporize me, honestly it was getting uncomfortable at this point, but it wasn't like I could say anything, I didn't have any authority

"Do you have something to add Gabe" Mr Blake snapped roughly, everyone including me gazed towards him as he was glaring towards a surprised Gabe

"What no I-" he began to stutter out

"Then quit the mumbling and shut up" Mr Blake said dangerously slow and low, everyone didn't dare to meet his eyes, they all pretended we were engulfed in the report, when really they were afraid to be the next victim of his anger

Mr Blake turned slowly towards me, his eyes laced with worry, and my breath hitched as my heats began to heat again

he was worried about me, I gave him an encouraging smile, to show him I was fine silently thanking him, he cleared his throat, turning away from me quickly

My smile dropped, maybe I was wrong

"In two weeks Mr Astor will be coming here, to discuss the possibility of our company being charge of the interior, exterior, and construction of his new project, Ms Badeaux, has emailed you your assigned task earlier please check your email and get on it I want a draft of your progress by the end of the week, that will be all"

"Wayne Astor?" someone asks

"No Wyatt Astor" Mr Blake corrects without looking up and then the whispers began probably in disbelief

"Instead of wasting your time gossiping, how about you get to work" He scolds, everyone rushing to get out of room

When everyone left, I couldn't help but laugh, they all ran like chickens "you can't really blame them for gossiping given his sudden entrance to the business world" I begin to say as we started to make our way out of the meeting room "I wonder what made him take a sudden interest after avoiding it all these years"

"If they want to gossip they should do it after office hours, same goes to you" he says pointedly, but is was hard to take the warning seriously given the grin he was trying to hide

I faked gasp "I am not gossiping I'm starting a conversation" I corrected innocently, when really I was fishing for details "gathering details of our potential client"
