Aurora was exhilarated by the time Snape had found her. Lucius Malfoy had turned out to be quite the charming person. He had never given her barely more than two syllables at a time in all the years that she had known him. However, he gave her his unlimited attention that morning, and she had admittedly developed a small attraction to him.

Aurora knew she would never take it any further than that. She was going to be married to Snape after all. It was a certainty that she could not avoid, so she may as well start learning to like it. Aurora had successfully ignored Snape for all of two minutes before her anxiety got the best of her. She glanced over in his direction and at the angry scowl on his face, she realized that she had leaned over into Lucius' personal space as they had been talking. Lucius had a lazy grin on his face, and his eyes were glittering at her in amusement. Lucius was aware of the influence he was having on her.

So apparently was Snape, if the murderous expression on his face was anything to go by. He swiftly glided over to them. He wrapped his hand tightly around Aurora's wrist and sat down next to her. His body was pressed into every dip in her side intimately. He brought the hand that was joined with her wrist to his lap, pulling her nearly into his. His other wrapped possessively around her waist, curling her against him.

"So, this is where you have been hiding?" He said casually. There was a dark note to his voice as he emitted the words, his gaze fixed unwaveringly upon her face.

Aurora's previous bravery had completely left her. His malicious aura was sinking into her every pore, and she was frozen with fear. Lucius was still in the room but he was lost to her focus. She could only keep her eyes riveted on Snape, anxious to know what he was thinking.

Snape smiled mockingly, he brought his thumb and forefinger to her chin and pinched it with more force than was necessary. "I missed you this morning. I was...disappointed to see that you didn't return the favor. Did you not like the gift I gave you last night?" He asked, faux hurt in his voice. The shimmer of amusement in his eyes gave away his true feelings on the matter. Despite her best efforts to stop them, tears welled in her eyes. She didn't think she would ever get used to how callous and cruel he could be.

Snape's eyes took her tearful expression in greedily. He was enraptured in her features and disgust filled her when she saw the longing in him. He enjoyed seeing her in pain.

"Don't cry pet, I'll endeavor to do better next time. I'll make you feel so good, you'll not have a single thought of leaving afterwards. I can promise you this." Snape growled as he released her wrist and brought his hand up to wipe away the few tears that had managed to escape.

His touch was gentle but burned as if he had tiny shards of glass embedded within the skin. Slicing into her as they raked across her lids. Her instinct was to melt into him and try to placate the swirling mass of suppressed rage around him. She knew he was holding back from her true punishment until they were no longer in the presence of Lucius.

Aurora had known that by choosing to stay with Lucius in the library instead of seeking Snape out, that she was running the risk of being taught a new lesson. It had seemed worth it at the time, but now she was rethinking that thought.

Contempt entered her as she thought about the witness she had to the control Snape held over her. She hated that Lucius's opinion of her would probably change now. Not that it had mattered anyway, he is marrying Narcissa and she is doomed to be with Snape. Straightening her back she leaned away from him, and snapped her gaze to the small table in between the two sofas. The very one she had been nearly falling on top of, in order to lean closer to Lucius as he had talked with her.
