Didn't Go Well

GD was growing impatient as he waited for his men to return to the hideout with the money promised by the person they had beaten up last week. He didn't know the traitor's name, all he knew was that the guy had been planted by District 1 to spy on the activities of his gang, District 7.

The motherfuckers.

GD knew he could opt out not to be here and wait for the money to arrive. However, he was also aware that as the gang leader, without him there, who knows what fight can break within the gang when all of them are gathered like this. After all, the gang is composed of dangerous men from different backgrounds and personalities and will show it openly when they dislike each other. His presence was the only thing preventing them from turning and shooting at each other. The gang was already hanging by a thread, and without GD, District 7 would be nothing.

"Boss."

GD looked up from where he was sitting on an empty barrel as he waited for TOP, one of the gang's best shooters, to continue his report.

TOP's face was serious. "Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the bastard Seungi didn't show up at the meetup," he said, fishing for his phone from his pocket and showing it to GD. "The bastard said Woojae threatened his life." He then shrugged as he retrieved his gun from his other pocket and wiped the barrel opening, looking at GD. "What do you want me to do next, boss?"

GD could hear cynical laughs at the back as excitement filled the air. His men lust blood.

GD coldly answered, "Tell him he has seven minutes to show up or," his words lingered, "District 7 will pay their respects by sending flowers to his funeral." He then stood up as his men cheered in the background.

Ignoring them, GD felt his phone vibrating. He retrieved it from his back pocket and his forehead creased at the number of the person who had messaged him. He quickly opened the message.

Jess: King, princess is crying. In Angel Street. Now.

GD's heartbeat quickened as he remembered something. Shit! It's Wednesday today. It's her big rehearsal.

Distracted, he barely noticed the hideout's big metal door open, revealing a couple of his men with panicked expressions.

"Boss, District 1 attacked us at the border. Dae was shot," they informed, out of breath.

GD's pupils constricted upon hearing that news, and his men stood up in unison, prepared their weapons, and readied themselves to counterattack. Their teeth clenched as they waited for what GD had to say.

Shit. GD cursed inside.

"We retaliate," GD said in the end which his men cheered loudly as they all climbed into their cars, and sped away.

Shit.

--

It didn't go well.

GD's District 7 made it on time before a catastrophic event could happen at the border. The only adversities that night were a couple of his men were hurt, Dae was hurt, cars on fire, and police on the way.

The men of District 1 stepped back when most of the District 7 arrived and joined the fight. Outnumbered, they had no choice but to scurry away back to their city like city rats.

GD was beyond angry.

"Kwon leader." A bleeding Dae greeted GD with a smile when the leader came to check on him. "Thanks for everything." He was even blinking some tears as his breathing slowed.

Tae who was nursing Dae, pushed the bandage he was doing on his shoulder much to his yelping.

"Ouch, Tae! You rascal!" Dae shouted in pain.

Tae frowned at him. "You make it sound like you're dying, idiot." He then looked at GD. "It's in the shoulder. No vital organs were hit."

GD nodded as he also looked at the other men who were hurt by District 1. They seemed to take it well and no one was badly injured.

Still, GD clenched his teeth. 'Woojae, you son of a bitch.' It was a surprise attack. Greatly outnumbering the opposing gang, too. In the gangster's world, that was a cowardly act from District 1.

One of the youngest of the gang, Seungri, came to them in panic while TOP was on the lookout. "We should probably leave. Malcom & Seoul Police Department are closing in." He looked at GD particularly. "Especially you, boss. Intel said Mayor Yang is on the way as well."

GD hesitated but Tae held his shoulder. "You should go. We got this, Jiyong." He smiled at him, assuringly. "We can get everybody out of here before the police arrive." He then looked at him knowingly. "You seemed distracted as well, so you should probably hurry."

GD looked at TOP who only nodded at him, to the injured Dae who grinned at him, to Seungri who was pleading with him to go, and to Tae who gave him a knowing look before tending to the others who were hurt. They were his best comrades. Probably the most suited to fix this mess in his absence.

GD clenched his jaw as he sharply turned his back to get to his car and get away there as fast as he could.

Even when GD reached the dark alley in Angel Street faster than what was intended for and upon seeing Dara crouching in the corner there, he couldn't help himself to get angrier. But with himself, this time.

"Dara." He called to her.

She looked up from hugging her knees and at the immediate sight of him, she sobbed right away.

GD felt like he was punched in the stomach right there and then. It pained him to see her like that.

She even passed out in his arms.

Shit.

That night, everything just didn't go well.
