Me: Hey everyone! I know it's been a while, so I'm super sorry for the delay in updating this story! Chapter 9 is finally here! I could use some help brainstorming villains—your input would mean the world to me. Until I get that sorted, I'll be focusing on chapters where Penny hangs out with each of the Loonatics. This one features her spending time with Ace! Also, just a heads-up: The Breakfast Song is 100% my original creation, and I worked really hard on the lyrics, so please don't use it without my permission. Thank you for understanding! 😄 I hope you enjoy this chapter as much as I enjoyed writing it. >w<

Penny's POV
I woke up early, as usual, feeling refreshed and ready to start the day. As I made breakfast for my friends, I couldn't help but hum a random tune. Before I knew it, words started to flow from my mouth, and I swayed in place while flipping pancakes.
🎶Flip the pancakes, make 'em golden bright, Sizzle, sizzle—what a tasty sight! Eggs are dancing in the pan, Toast is poppin', butter ran!
I flipped a sunnyside-up egg and pushed down the toast to get it toasted. My tail swayed left and right, matching the rhythm of my hips as I continued to sing.
🎶Yum, yum, breakfast fun, Start the day with eggs and sun! A little bite, a happy tune, Morning feels like a cartoon!
🎶Bacon wiggles, crispy and neat, Juice is cold, oh what a treat! Mix it up, stir with love, Sprinkle kindness from above!
🎶(repeat x2) Yum, yum, breakfast fun, Start the day with eggs and sun! A little bite, a happy tune, Morning feels like a cartoon!
As I finished singing 'cartoon,' I smiled brightly and turned off the stove. I yelped and whirled around when I heard clapping. To my horror, Ace, Lexi, Duck, Rev, Slam, and Tech were standing at the kitchen doorway, smiling and clapping. Blushing, I smiled shyly and bowed to them before placing their food on their plates. They sat down around the table as I served each one a steaming hot breakfast.
I sat down between Rev and Tech, receiving numerous compliments on my voice. I didn't think I was that good—I rarely sang, and when I did, it was just for fun. I remembered doing that when I worked as a waitress before the meteorite hit, changing my life and the lives of many others.
After everyone finished eating, they went off to do their own things. Tech was busy making more of those cuffs, trying to make them stronger so they wouldn't break. I offered to help him, but he gently suggested I should spend some time around town and have some 'me time.' It was sweet of him; he wanted to make sure I didn't get cooped up. The truth was, I didn't mind being cooped up if it meant being with him. I paused, mid-scrub on the plate in the sink, blushing as I realized what I was thinking.
"Pen?"
I jumped a bit when a hand touched my shoulder and breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing it was just Ace, the leader of the Loonatics. Smiling sheepishly, I realized I'd been lost in thoughts of Tech and the huge crush I had on the coyote.
"Y-yes, Ace?" I mentally cursed myself for stuttering like a timid kitten.
He chuckled and withdrew his hand. "Since everyone is doing their own thing and things are pretty relaxed, Lexi suggested I hang out with you. What do you think, Pen? We can chat about anything, maybe something you're curious about."
I blinked in surprise. Ace wanted to hang out with me? I felt a surge of happiness at the thought of spending time with the leader, a friend, and someone who felt like a brother. Beaming, I placed the clean plate on the drying rack and wiped my wet hands with a towel.
