TRIGGER WARNING
blood
A piece of me wishes to doze off during the ride, just for a moment of respite from the constant thoughts. However, the anxiety bubbling within me denies that small escape. Pulling up in front of the CDC, my eyes widen. The massive building sparks hope a desperate wish that someone inside holds a cure or something to guide us through this mess.
Yet, as my gaze drops to the ground, the sprawling parking lot reveals a grim reality. Dozens of walker bodies, once human, now lie lifeless around us. A shiver runs down my spine, and the full weight of the situation sinks in. Nervousness creeps in as my eyes narrow. The sight doesn't stop anyone from exiting their vehicles and going near what somewhat looks like an entrance.
Walking side by side with Carl and Lori, Shane and Rick holding big guns, ready for anything. I hold my nose at the disgusting smell of rotting bodies. And as we stand before what somewhat looks like an entrance, just beside a tank which is crazy to think about, everyone starts couching by the smell that just keeps getting worse and worse.
Rick and Shane start banging and trying to open the entry gate. ''Nothing?'' Glenn's small voice asks, but no one responds.
Shane bangs even louder. The anxiety of a walker appearing to make me shiver, in response I take out Jim's knife, because what if a walker tried to kill me? Or worse.
