Hero

Last night was a ton of fun! I kept thinking of Danny when Danny and I sang Hero together. John needs to grant us permission to sing the song during the tour, I'm hoping!

I'm not ready for this tour to end at all! It is unfortunately approaching quickly. We still have four shows left, which is unfortunate.

I couldn't help but look at Danny as we were rehearsing the song. He is so attractive! What am I even doing now? Even though I'm with Ben, I love him. In the meantime, since that day, I contacted Ben, and I have not heard from him.

"Jen is checking Danny out!" John spoke in the microphone.

Blushing deeply, I withdrew my gaze. John's remarks didn't seem to affect Danny.

"We have a couple more tours left, so focus people!" John said.

"Jen, have you heard from Ben?" Korey asked suddenly.

"No. Which is werid. I thought he loved me." I pulled my phone out and sent him a quick text.

I got one back immediately.

Sorry, baby, I've been busy, but I am going to one of the tours. It's a surprise. I'm not telling you which one.

"What did he say?" Korey asked.

"He said he's been busy, and he's going to one of the tours, but he's not telling me." I can't wait to see him! I do wonder what he's busy with.

"And you're curious about what he's been up to?"

"I am. I'm sure it's nothing. " I shurrg it off.

"Come on, people, let's get practicing!" John said in the microphone.

I put my phone in my pocket and we practiced some more.

"Hey John, could Jen and I continue to sing Hero throughout the tour?" Danny suddenly asked with a huge grin on his face.

"I don't see why not. The fans loved it. Let's pack up and get ready for tonight."

"Shouldn't we practice Hero before we pack up?" Danny asked.

"Did you forget the lyrics already?" Matt teased.

"No, I just like practicing with Jen."

The thought made me smile, and a big grin appeared on my lips.

"Look, Jen is blushing! She really likes Danny!" John said while pointing at me.

My cheeks got redder. They're so embarrassing!! "Guys, stop. I don't like it!" I kinda shouted.

There was a short silence. "So, let's just wrap up then," John cut the silence.

To prepare for tonight's performance, we set up the stage.

While we were all occupied organizing things for tonight, I heard a voice I recognized.

"Hey, babe!"

When I looked around, Ben was there! A broad smile spread across my eyes and lips. "Ben!" I rushed over, and he gave me a big embrace.

"I missed you so much!" I gave him a kiss on the lips.

"What a surpise!" John said as he gave him a hug.

"It's so great to see you!" Korey said with a smile, and she gave him a hug.

From Ashes To New, came over and met Ben. Well, Danny already knew him. The others didn't.

"Hi, Ben," a blank-faced Danny said.

"I got this idea!" I suddenly speak up. "Ben could join us on Hero! The fans would love to see Ben again."

"That would be a great idea! Only if Seth and Ben are okay with it," John replied.

"I'm okay with stepping out for the song," Seth said.

"I would love that! Just like the old times!" Ben gleed.

"Well, we should practice the song then," John suggested.

We all got into position. Ben did mess up a little. I thought it was cute and couldn't help but smile.

Then Danny jumped in and sang. God, I love his voice!

We practiced the song a few times until Ben got the notes down.

"That felt so good to actually play for you guys again. I do love the song Hero, but I prefer it with John than Danny," Ben pointed out. "But I think it's interesting, and the fans will love it!"

"Jen was the one who had the idea," Matty said.

Ben didn't say anything. He just grabbed my hand. "Let's just go for a walk."

"I would love that! We haven't seen each other in a month."

We rested on a nearby park bench after he took me downtown. "I'm just curious as to what made you decide that you and Danny sang Hero together?"

I hope he's not getting jealous. "It was just an idea, and it just kinda stook."

"It sounds good, but John is better."

"The fans loved it! I thought it was going to be a one-time thing, but we decided to just not change it back."

"Yeah. Honey, you're doing such an amazing job! I was happy I got to practice the song with you, and now I'm going to be performing the song live! It just felt so good to play for Skillet!"

"Yeah! Thank you! The tour is ending soon and it's been a lot of fun. I'm going to miss it."

Ben placed his hand on my knee. "It's okay. I'm sure you had lots of fun and enjoyed the experience. "

"I did. You know Danny and I are close friends, and I got really excited that we would be touring with his band."

Ben chuckled. "I remember the day you would out that you found out. You got super excited it was cute."

I blushed. "Oh, stop! I was so surprised that you came by!"

"Yeah, I figured I would stay with you until the end of the tour."

"Really?!" I got really excited. "I would love that!"

"Me too!" He pulled me in for a kiss.

It was such a wonderful surprise to see Ben! I sincerely hope that our bond continues to strengthen! I adore this man so much!
