Nobody Cared

To whom it may concern: he cries every day.
Every second, twenty-four seven, he's castaway
from people, compassion, from empathy.
So still, he cries so breathlessly.
Nobody sees him in isolation
as he cries in desperation,
"Help me please. I'm suffocating.
My heart, the beat, it's escalating.
I can't breathe. I never been this scared."
But nobody noticed or nobody cared.

To whom it may concern: she cries every day.
Imagining that maybe someday, she could run away
from people's ignorance, from her own private hell.
But, today, she has nothing, so she cries in her cell.
No one hears her cries of despair,
"Help me please. I've taken all I can bear.
My heart, the beat, I'm breathing too fast.
I'm scared to death. How long will this last?"
She cries, fears for her life, mentally impaired.
But nobody noticed or nobody cared.

To whom it may concern: he won't be okay,
no matter what "I'm fine" and his smile convey.
He's slipping off the edge,
stepping off the ledge.
Yet, still, he tries, for everyone's sake,
to pretend it's okay, that he didn't break.
But underneath, the truth destroys
everything that he once had enjoyed.
At night, he knows he's beyond repair.
But nobody noticed or nobody cared.

To whom it may concern: she won't be okay,
no matter the "I'm fine" she always will say.
It's a lie as everything is as of lately.
Every day, it pains her ever so greatly
to have to try and fake her smile,
internally breaking all the while.
But since she fakes it all so well,
she is fine, they all can tell.
So, alone at night, she prays to be spared.
But nobody noticed or nobody cared.

To whom it may concern: he and she are all over the place.
Silently they cry, tears stream down their face.
Nobody sees what lies inside.
They are, unknowingly, brushed aside.
When they cry, "Help me please!"
Everybody unofficially agrees,
"Ignore them, keep on walking.
It'll be easier than listening to them talking."
To whom it may concern: he and she are everywhere.
But nobody notices or nobody cares.
