Final Selection

The three of them walked the path of the peaceful path until the smell of wisteria flowers filled their nose. The smell of wisteria reminded him of Shinobu a lot but at least he would see her in a few years he just had to focus on passing the selection. They reached the place now they were standing exactly at the entrance of the final selection area. It was flooded with lots of people waiting to become a demon slayer but Giyuu knew only a few of them were going to end up surviving, He decided that this time his friend group was going to be one of the ones going to survive. even if he dies he'll still try to make sure Sabito and Mokomo live cause he always felt that if Sabito had survived he could have made a better hashira and maybe he could have made friends with the hashiras unlike him.
"Guys let's make a deal," Giyuu said. "Ehhh?? what type" Mokomo asked confused. Sabito understood what Giyuu was gonna ask. I mean, after all, he was his best friend how could he not? "Whoever kills the most demons can make the other person do whatever they want. I hope you understand what I'm talking about Sabito." Giyuu smirked. "Heyy!! come on Giyuu stop getting all cocky we all know who's gonna get the most kills" He said confidently. "And that's me," Mokomo said and ran into the forest. Both the guys stared dumbfounded. "Not fair you got a headstart!!" Giyuu ran after her with Sabito following closely behind.

"Twenty... If I make sure to kill most of the demons now then maybe Sabito won't be that tired when he meets the hand monster and I should make sure that Sabito and Mokomo stick together so they can help each other... " Giyuu thought. Just then he heard something it was a demon maybe " Huh you can't even behead demons with that physique of yours girl you can never be a demon slayer " The ugly demon laughed and attacked the girl. " I guess it's time I end you it was nice meeting you butterfly hairclip girl" The demon was about to hit his final blow towards her when Giyuu came and slashed his head off in a matter of seconds. "Hey!! that was supposed to be my kill!!" The girl complained. The voice seemed really familiar to him. " Kocho...?" He turned around to find the one and only Shinobu Kocho. " How do you know my name fox mask?!" Right .. Giyuu forgot he went back into the past again. Shinobu didn't know he existed yet but he was glad he saw her again. Her personality before Kanae died was completely different. It's like she turned into her sister completely after her death but seeing her being herself and seeing her as a bratty teen somehow made Giyuu's heart flutter a bit.
"Don't worry about it little butterfly but I have to go help my friends now so Sayonara!" He said while smirking but Shinobu couldn't see it because of the fox mask he was wearing. "Come back here you stupid, idiotic .. fox mask!!" Saying that Shinobu started chasing Giyuu everywhere with her blade. "Somebody help there's this huge insect following me!!" Giyuu ran trying to save himself from the angry lady.

Meanwhile,  Sabito and Mokomo had run into the hand monster and were now badly bruised."Haha, this is so fun now what should I do with u two.. maybe I could tear apart your limbs or squash your tiny heads... I like how Urokodaki is always sending his students each year in hopes that he could become a demon slayer but none of them manage to make it back." The hand monster said while he continued to keep spitting insults towards the former water hashira."Well, this year... it's gonna change.." Sabito said trying to get up and wiping the blood off his mouth." I'll avenge all the deaths of his students by killing you!!"Saying that Sabito charged at the demon at full speed." Water ... breathing: Tenth form Constant Flux.." He was almost cut off the demon's head but he was pushed back last minute and crashed into a tree." Sabito!!!" Mokomo hurried to his side to aid his wounds before she loses him.
"Well now I'm angry and playtime is over so-" He was cut off by a sudden attack "Water breathing: First form Water Surface Slash" The attack was swift and powerful enough to behead the hand demon in a split second." S-sabito!! Are you ok!!?" Giyuu asked as he scurried toward his hurt friend. He didn't want to lose him again, he wished he had gotten here sooner so he didn't end up in the state he was in currently. "He's gonna be fine .. don't worry fox mask," Shinobu said as she brushed off all the leaves and small branches that had gotten on her while she was following Giyuu. Both of them had heard Mokomo's scream so hurried towards it only to find both of them fighting the hand demon. "Are you sure" Giyuu looked at her. Shinobu could tell he was really worried because of his voice. "... I'm a doctor I can tend to his wounds then he'll be alright.. just let him rest for a while ..anyway the sun is coming up so there won't be any demons for a while." She said while trying to comfort him. Giyuu fell to the ground in relief "I'm glad then.." He sighed and hugged Sabito. "Don't you dare leave me again.. Alright?" He then let Sabito go so Shinobu could have a look at his wounds. Mokomo giggled seeing Giyuu being so worked up about his friends. She thought it was really cute.

For the next few days, the four of them got close. Giyuu and Shinobu would often run off together to team up and kill demons or to give Sabito and Mokomo their 'alone time' so maybe Sabito would finally confess his feelings to her and they both would finally be together. Giyuu felt that with everyone now the selection wasn't that bad and with the hand demon gone there weren't many strong demons left either so he didn't need to worry about anyone. " You know Tomioka-san... i had fun ... the selection is ending tomorrow so we might not be able to see each other again.. " Shinobu said a bit upset but if she knew what Giyuu knew she would be surprised. "Don't worry I'm sure even after the selection we'll meet each other again... It's just a hunch though," Giyuu said assuring her. "The moon looks lovely tonight doesn't it..?" Giyuu said looking at the sky. "Ehh!!!??? we just met tho Tomioka-san you can't just say that!!" Shinobu said blushing. Giyuu looked at her surprised. "What do you mean?.." He asked confused. He didn't know those words meant anything other than the person saying the moon was pretty today. " I guess you don't know what it means... It means the words I love you Tomioka-san" Shinobu said fidgeting with her hands. " Eh?" So all this time whenever Shinobu was saying this she meant to tell Giyuu she loved him but he never understood and only gave answers like yes or I know." Did someone say that to you?" Shinobu asked curious. "Yea... I didn't know she liked me though.. I wish I had known sooner but it's fine now I guess..." Giyuu said. " Oh.. alright then, I kinda feel bad for the girl now I mean imagine falling in love with an idiot like you." Shinobu joked but Giyuu felt weird knowing that she felt bad for herself. " I feel bad for her too... " He replied.

The selection was over now and Shinobu and Giyuu went off on their ways but Giyuu wasn't sad because he knew he would see her again in a year by then he would train and get more strong so he could protect her during the final battle and never lose her again. " See you again Tomioka-san.." Shinobu said smiling but this time a genuine smile... Giyuu couldn't help but blush he was mad his mask broke while fighting a demon so now  Sabito and Mokomo would realize about his little crush on her and they did, they were surprised to see Giyuu's reaction and couldn't help but giggle at the interaction of the two. " Yeah.. see you soon Kocho.." after he said that she left for the butterfly mansion to tell her sister the good news. The trio then stared at each other and smiled. They had all survived and were now officially demon slayers. 

"Let's go back home now,.. we have a long journey ahead of us" Giyuu said putting his arm around his two friends.
