Chapter Nine
If Walls Could Talk
✶ ✶

Kaiya took a seat in front of the gorgeous blonde, there was a stark contrast between them. While one had long golden locks flowing to the back of her back the other had raven-black hair that rested on her shoulders. Instead of high cheek bones and a small slender face Kaiya had round features and almond shaped eyes.

Kaiya cocked her head to the side, her index finger making circular motions over the glass coffee table, her manicured nails almost making a screeching noise as she did so.

Emilia had a blank expression over her face, it felt as if the lost month had made her 10 years older, "what is it now, I just talked to Jeremiah you don't need to do his work for him."

Kaiya shook her head and let out a small laugh, "none of the sorts, I'm here for you." She let out a small smile as she clasped her hands together.

Emilia raised a brow, intrigued, "tell me more then."

"I know how Jeremiah plays, I was the last girl he played against." Kaiya took a strand of her hair and started to play with it, taking it between her thumb and her index finger and fiddling with it. Emilia thought she was too cautious with her actions, with her movements, even with her words.

"Did you win?" Emilia started, shifting her weight on the chair as she crossed her legs.

Kaiya shook her head once again letting out a stifled laugh, "not exactly, but I did learn just how he likes to play."

"And why exactly would you want to help me." Emilia wasn't close to her father, she never had been, but the only thing her father had actually taught her was the art of negotiating. Him being a famous lawyer with his own firm and all.

He taught her how to slither into someone's head coaxing them into believing that what will benefit her would also benefit them.

A true art form, which had helped Emilia to find a way out of the many dinner parties her mother hosted.

But what she learned by herself in the process was what could actually lead her to victory. She knew how to play people like puppets, always playing behind the scenes and never really having to show her face to make herself known.

And Emilia? She knew exactly what to say to get whatever she wanted, she knew what to observe, what to doubt, and most importantly she knew that no one reveals the truth without reason.

So what was Kaiya exactly doing here on this breezy October afternoon?

It sure as hell wasn't because she wanted to help her from the bottom of her heart.

"Girls should always stick together." Kaiya let out a snarky smile, "don't you think so?"

Emilia slowly nodded her head, she was highly suspicious of Kaiya's intentions but she figured they could both use each other. As long as Kaiya didn't step over the line.

"How do I win then?" Emilia tapped her nails against the glass table, she looked calm and collected but she actually felt the opposite. Truth is she was growing impatient.

"That's for you to find out, I'm only here to help along the way, you see, it's my job to see things, to hear things." The raven-haired girl rested her face over the palm of her hand, "if I hear anything I'll let you know."

"That's simply not enough," Emilia was about to stand up but a Kaiya motioned her to sit down, she did so. Emilia was trying to extract any information possible from the girl, if it meant playing hard to get so be it.

"Use Sebastian." Kaiya sighed as her face held a bored expression, "Jeremiah hates feeling like he's second best."

"Maybe you've forgotten but I can't date anyone else." Emilia tilted her head to the side, growing more impatient. This information was absolutely useless.

"No you can't, it doesn't say anything about just being friends." Kaiya shrugged a bored expression still adorning her round features. "Just be friendlier."

"Anything you do with Jeremiah you do with Sebastian, if Jeremiah takes you out shopping you take out shopping Sebastian the very next day, if he invites you on a lunch date you go with him for breakfast. Make him feel like he is slowly loosing you. It'll only make him want you more." She started.

"He'll take you to extravagant parties, give you lavish gifts. You'll have his constant attention, he'll pay attention to every single detail, to every single word that leaves your mouth. He'll meet your parents and confort you when you are having a bad day. Whatever you do, always remember, this is just all a trick." Kaiya clasped her hands together fixing her posture.

"Don't fall for it the same way I did." Kaiya opened up her white Kelly Hermes bag and took her phone out. "Here, type in your phone number so we can be in touch." Emilia did as she was told, her manicured nails clicking against the phone screen as she typed.

She returned the phone to Kaiya and Kaiya typed something on her phone and a notification bubble popped up on Emilia's phone, "now you have my number too."

"And remember, don't mention to any of them that I was here or that you were ever in contact with me. They don't deem it fair to take advice from past participants."

Emilia nodded and both walked out of the cafe, parting ways each to their own car. Emilia walked to her spotless white Mercedes while Kaiya walked up to her black Rolls Royce. Emilia noticed it was the one she had been parked to earlier that day.

She still didn't know how Kaiya managed to get wind of the situation. But as she said, it was her job to know things. She was still skeptical about her encounter with the raven-haired girl. But as stated before, they could both use each other.

For the time being anyway.
