Enemies - Katie McCabe

25- Match day

Ellies pov:
Today's our match against West ham. We needed to beat them to get into the semi finals.

"You ok?" Millie asked raising her eyebrow. "Yeah just nervous" I said with a small smile. I moved my attention over to Liliana who was playing with Milo. Chelsea weren't in the FA cup anymore so Millie had a day off and was looking after Liliana.

I heard the beep of a horn from outside. "That'll be katie" I said standing up grabbing my bag. I said my goodbyes and gave Liliana a kiss on the head before leaving. "Hey" Katie said with a smile as I got into the car. "Hi" I replied. "Nervous?" She asked putting her hand on my thigh. "Yeah" I sighed. "Me too" She admitted biting her bottom lip. I placed my hand ontop of hers and gave it a gentle squeeze.

I took a deep breath as the car turned into the carpark of west ham's stadium. When I got out of the car there were fans lined up behind the barriers. I glanced back at Katie and went over to the fans. There was a small girl, only about eight with my name on her sign. 'Ellie Stone can you please sign my shirt?' The sign read. There were two pictures stuck onto the cardboard. The first one was at Wembley, I had taken a selfie with her after our win against the Netherlands. The second picture was at the Emirates after my debut. "Hey! Your ava right?" I asked going over to her. "Yes!" She said excitedly. I gave her a hug before signing her shirt with my number on and her sign.

After talking to a few more fans I headed to the changing rooms to get ready. "Hey!" Kyra said walking over to me. I put my arm around her shoulder. "Heyyy" I replied. "Have you seen the starting lineup?" She asked. "No, have you?" I replied.

She got out her phone and showed me the list.

"We're both starting!" I said excitedly. "I know!" Kyra said with a massive smile on her face. Me and Kyra have started to become really close these last few weeks. I'm going to Australia with her in a month to go see the aussie squad.

The rest of the girls started to make there way into the changing rooms and into the showers. "You were out there for ages!" I said to katie as she walked past. "I know there were so many fans there" She said smiling.

After Jonas told us what we needed to do and Leah did her team talk we all lined up in the tunnel. I closed my eyes for a second and whispered to myself. "Estarás bien?" The person behind me questioned. It was what I had been whispering to myself. I turned around to see Beth. "It means 'You'll be fine' in spanish" I explained. "Ahhh fair enough" she said with a nod before fixing her hair. I heard movement and turned back around to face the front. We started to move out onto the pitch and I looked at the crowd. It was a sea of red with an occasional west ham shirt. I smiled to myself as the crowd started to sing 'North london forever'.

We shook hands with the west ham players and I gave Katrina Gorry a smile. I had met her a few weeks prior to this match when i went out to lunch
with kyra. Her daughter was about the same age as Liliana so we had said we would meet up at somepoint.

I ran to my position and did a few stretches before the whistle blew. I smiled at kyra before getting stuck into the game.

West Ham kicked off but Arsenal were quick to gain possession. Katie passed to lotte and I made my run up the right side. I shouted and Lotte kicked the ball to me, I slowed down when I got to the edge of the penalty box and stalled to wait for my team to run up. I spotted Lia Walti at the top of the box and I passed it through. West ham thought I was passing to Mead but she let the ball roll through her legs and Lia cleanly hit the ball into the bottom right corner. I ran over and celebrated before returning to my position.

At half time the score was 3-2 to Arsenal. No subs were made and we kicked off this time. Steph made a wonderful pass to russo who fired it into the top left corner. 8 minutes later Katie took a shot from about 30 yards out sending the ball straight into the top right corner. The stadium erupted and everyone piled ontop of katie. 20 minutes later Gorry scored for west ham from a penalty after sending Manu the wrong way.

In the last 7 minutes of extra time we won a corner. Katie sent the ball in and I saw it come towards me. I jumped and felt the ball connect with the side of my head. I didn't see the goal go in but from the noise of the crowd i knew it had. We celebrated briefly before starting again. In last minute of extra time Leah won the ball and sprinted up the pitch. She calmly knocked it into the bottom left corner and the ref blew her whistle for full time. The final score was 7-4

The stadium started to sing our chants as we all celebrated. I walked over to Mini and gave her a hug. "Well played" I said with a smile. I shook hands with Mackenzie and took a photo with both of them. "Look!" Kyra said coming over, she was pointing towards the crowd.

I squinted slightly and saw Millie standing with Liliana sitting on her hip. Mini's girlfriend was standing there to with Harper. I smiled before running over. "Hi!" I said surprised. The security guard helped Millie pass me Liliana and Harper. "She wanted to see you" Millie said with a smile. I thanked her, promising to come back over before taking Harper and Liliana to the middle of the pitch were the others were.

Mini smiled as she picked Harper up and pointed to Liliana. "I love the shirt" She said laughing. I turned Liliana around and saw she had my name and number on the back. "Same with yours" I said indicating towards Harper who was wearing minis west ham shirt. A photographer came over and took a photo of me and mini with out daughters.

"Just borrowing this" Someone said from behind me. As I turned the person took Liliana. "Katie!" I shouted but she was gone. I laughed as I watched her and Kyra play with the two girls. All of the arsenal girls got into a group huddle and threw Liliana in the air, not too high, and caught her again. She was laughing her head off.

I walked over to them and picked her up putting her on my shoulders before walking over to the fans. A few of them talked to Liliana as I signed there things and got pictures with them.

"Thank you for bringing her" I said to millie as I walked over. "No problem, do you want me to take her home and get her settled?" She asked smiling. "If you wouldn't mind" I said passing her Liliana who was slowly drifting off to sleep.

I said goodbye and walked back over to the girls. "That was a brilliant match!" Leah said throwing her arm around my shoulders. "I know!" I said grinning. Me and Leah walked back into the changing rooms singing as the media woman watched taking a video while laughing.
