Unixy's POV

Today's the day. The day I leave the life I thought I knew so well, to go to Alaska to live with two people who I've never met, and don't know.

"Do you have everything?" Mike questions, unzipping the big pocket on my bag, and shoving a smaller, rectangular bag inside.

"Yeah, I think so." I reply as he rezips my backpack and steps in front of me.

"We'll miss you here... visit us sometime if you can." I nod and he wraps me up in a tight hug.

"I'll miss you." I whisper, eyes stinging from unshed tears. I feel him kiss the top of my head and I almost burst out crying.

"I'll miss you too. Call, text, Skype, if you can reach me from Alaska." I chuckle softly.

"God, I hope I'll be able to."

"Flight 361 to Seattle, Washington is now boarding. Flight 361 to Seattle, Washington is now boarding. Thank you." A woman's voice floods through the airport. Mike's arms unwrap from my shoulders and I step back.

"Bye, Mike."

"Bye, Unixy." I turn around and walk towards gate 361, handing my letting the lady who's scanning tickets at the tunnel, that I'm a minor and I'm flying alone. She has a security guard escort me onto the plane and he tells the flight attendants and the pilot, while I walk to my seat.

It's an eight hour plane ride from New Orleans to Seattle and I'm more than likely going to sleep the entire time. Once I arrive in Seattle, a biplane is going to take me to Black Woods, Alaska.

Roughly 2 hours into the flight, I haven't even attempted to close my eyes and rest. I'm too nervous. Too scared.

Finally, I close my eyes, only to hear one of the most annoying noises that had ever touched my ears. A baby. Only a feet seats away. Screaming at the top of its lungs.

Now I love babies. Don't get me wrong. But that infant's crying is making me want to slap someone. I reach into my bag, grab my headphones and plug them in, turning my music up until it drowns out the noise of the baby.

As the plane begins its decent into the large airport, 6 hours later, I stare out at the large city while almost everyone else is asleep. Sadly, I didn't get any sleep, but it's alright. I think I'll survive.

"Please fasten your seat belts." The overhead speaker chimes. I look down at the seatbelt that lies next to me and strap it across my waist, locking the buckle. I then notice that the woman next to me went back to sleep without buckling her seat belt.

"Hey... the plane is landing, you have to put your seatbelt on." I say, softly shaking her out of her sleep.

After a 30 minute ride to the biplane field, the taxi driver pulls over and smiles at me through the rear view mirror.

"Thank you." I hand him a twenty dollar bill for his services, and his smile widens.

"No, thank you, ma'am." A small grin makes its way to my lips as I climb out, him doing the same. He walks around back and opens the trunk, bringing my backpack out and handing it over to me.

"Thank you, again."

"It's no problem. You have a good day, ma'am."

"You too." I turn to face the small biplane as a man steps around it and over to me, holding his hand out; I shake his hand.

"Hello, my name is Sal. Sal Winchester."

"Unixy. Unixy Skyler." I mock jokingly. He laughs and motions to the plane- we begin to walk over to it.

"I'll be your pilot for your flight. Black Woods, Alaska right?"

"Yes, sir." He nods and opens the passenger door for me. Climbing up onto the wing of the plane, I close the door door behind me and sit down in the copilot's chair. He climbs in soon after. Checking all the button and gears, he pushes down on the gas pedal, and the plane jerks forward before steadying out and running smoothly down the runway.

"Ready for takeoff?"

"Yeah." I reply, absentmindedly, staring off into the distance as the scenery begins to blur.

"Here we go!" He chuckles, pushing further on a pedal at his feet, shifting levers and flipping a switch. The end of the runway comes closer and closer and the plane lifts off the ground with ease. My stomach drops slightly and a small smile forms on my face. I shouldn't have any worries until I reach Black Woods. Then it's nothing but.

It's one of those things, that you don't really understand the purpose for, but deep down you know it's for a reason. I have a feeling I'll learn why everything that has happened, happened. This is for me to understand my life. There's no way this was a mistake.
