A bit later I was woken up by my door opening and a shocked gasp coming from the doorway. I peaked by eyes open for a moment and noticed that Sunny was nearly on top on me with his arm draped over my stomach. A loud "AWWWW!!" came from the doorway, I looked up and it was Aubrey , with her hand over her face.
"Omg I have to tell Mari!" She stood there frozen for a moment and so did I, trying to process what was happening through the sleepy brain fog. I shook Sunny to wake him up so I could get up and tell Aubrey not to say anything but before I could say anything Aubrey had already started running out to the living area of the house. Eventually Sunny woke up and I chased after Aubrey.
"OMG *laugh* MARI! *laugh* YOU GOTTA SEE THIS! *laugh* YOU SHOULDA SEEN IT!!" I heard Aubrey yell hysterically across the house.
"S-Shut up Aubrey! You didn't see anything!!" I yelled in response before stomping back to my room to go see if Sunny was alright. He was still sitting there on the floor wrapped in blankets, rubbing his eyes.
"What was that about?" He said before letting out a big yawn.
"It was just Aubrey. Her and Mari are here, I'm guessing to pick you up." I said going to sit back down next to him. My stomach started to feel light, not in a way like I was sick though. It confused me but I ignored it as best I could. "So, did you sleep any better after we came back in here last night?" I asked him. I was still a bit concerned by the nightmare Sunny had the night before and apparently what had been keeping him up all night for the past while.
"Yeah, I did. I don't know if it was the music or the fact I knew you were there but I felt a lot safer last night." He said lazily, almost as if he wasn't quite thinking clearly about what came out of his mouth. I felt my face grow warmer and leaned over to hug him in order to hide my face for a moment.
Before letting go I said, "Well either way I'm glad you slept well." Trying to change the topic, although fully aware I was the one that put myself in this situation in the first place, I stood up and ruffled Sunny's hair before grabbing some clothes out of my dresser. " By the way I know you didn't pack a bag so you don't have any clothes so you can borrow this for now until you can go home." I handed him a knit sweater-vest I had gotten as a birthday present from my parents a few years back and some spare tan shorts. Grabbing my own clothes I said, "I'm gonna go shower, if you wanna change in here you can, the door locks."
"Thank you." Sunny nodded his head before I walked out and into the bathroom.
'UuuuuuuUUUUUUGGHHHHH! What is going on right now? Come on Basil! Get it together!' I went over the the bathroom sink and splashed my face with some cold water to clear my mind. 'Sunny is my best friend, right? Am I thinking too much about last night? He probably just naturally moved in his sleep and I just happened to be in his way... Right? Yeah! That has to be it. It's nothing to think about too much.' I walked over and turned the water on in the shower for it to heat up as I brushed my teeth. 'But, what if it wasn't just a coincidence?' I felt my heart skip a beat. 'What if there really is something there?' I brought my hand up from my side and lightly slapped my cheek. 'Stop it Basil! You know what's going to happen if you do this to yourself. Don't get your heart broken. This is weird. You are weird. Sunny is only your best friend. Nothing more. And even worse he's your male best friend. If he finds this out at all you are done for.'
My eyes began to tear up. I tried holding it back for a while but the second I step foot into the shower out came the waterworks. I fell the the floor and just sat there for a while in my own thoughts. 'Why do I keep letting myself get like this? Why? For the love of god! Why can't I just be normal for once?!' The water was a bit too hot but I did nothing to try and change it. I just sat there. After a few minutes my back began to burn but I didn't care. After what felt like 10 minutes I stood back up and wiped the tears from my eyes. I finished washing my hair and such before getting out and finishing getting ready. Sunny was already done getting changed and picking up our fort by the time I got back.
"Oh shoot! Sunny! You didn't have to do that by yourself. I didn't mean to take so long or else I would have helped you." I said helping him tidy the last few things around the room.
"I don't mind." He got a small bag from a bin in my room. "Is it alright if I use this to put my stuff in?"
"Huh? Oh! Of course. I think breakfast is finished so I'm gonna head out there and get some. Do you want any too?"
"Sure, I'll come out there with you." He packed his stuff away and set it on my bed before heading to the living room with me.
