"Scarlett, doll, you mind getting me a coffee too?" The man asks as the girl stands, Scarlett hesitating as she glanced to violet only for Jed to smile sweetly at her
"Uh, yeah, sure... what kind?"

"You know what? I'll go with you" the man offers as he stands firmly but gently grabbing the girls arm as he leads her out
"You need to be a better actor" he whispers as he leans closer to her ear, his breath hitting her neck and causing a shiver to run down her spine

Violet sat in the apartment, watching as the two left, she wondered when they were gonna tell her

It would be her doing if they were together

"Yeah, well... I've never been the one pretending" she says quietly back as they reach the man's car

Scarlett wondered how many people he'd stash in it

Jed didn't let her thoughts wonder long as he clicked his tongue a bit to grab her attention, he was holding the passenger door open for her and nodded his head as a gesture to get in
"It's fine. As much as I love Violet she's dumber than you"

Scarlett's head snapped over to him and the man let out a bark of a laugh as he drove down the road
"I mean, you're not stupid. But... you still haven't even told your little friends about me, you like me, huh, doll?" He taunts reaching a hand over and placing it on her thigh

If this was a different situation she'd probably be blushing as he thumb rubbed her skin

Well she was flustered now so she supposed the situation didn't matter to her
"No... you just-you threatened to kill Violet if I told any-""That's a crock of shit, baby. You're selfish, just like me"

"I'm not selfish-""Sure, sure. Whatever you gotta tell yourself" he shrugs

"But think of all the lives you'd be saving... Violet would be one more, you not tellin' is loads. I mean, hell, I've killed three more people in the span of a week. All because you decided to keep your mouth shut"

The girl stayed silent
"You know it's not necessarily a bad thing to be selfish... in fact, I'm glad you are, if you told the cops I'd be halfway across the country by now but here I am, sitting all pretty with you"

Jed and Scarlett sat at her house, the girl silently eating her cereal
"...you know you need to start eatin' more" the man murmurs as he rummages through her pantry and fridge, noticing how the girl didn't say a snappy comment and turning to her

"I eat fine" she states noticing his gaze
"No, you don't. I've been watching you remember? Most you eat a day is maybe two meals and a snack... oh and don't even get me started on the amount of cigarettes you've smoked recently" he says with the slight roll of his eyes

Scarlett couldn't see it however, he was still wearing the stupid mask and her stomach churned every time she saw it's shrieking mouth and eyes

Was he doing this on purpose to-

The girl jumped a bit as the phone began ringing, her bowl slipping from her hands and shattering on the floor which caused milk and Cheerios to fly everywhere
Jed chuckled at her reaction as he reached over and picked up the phone, not noticing the overwhelmed expression on the girls face as she stood there, fists clenched together

"Hello?" The man says into the phone as he lifts the mask up a bit so it wouldn't sound muffled
"...uh, sorry, I think I've got the wrong number, is Scarlett the-""yeah, no, you've got the right number. Just, uh..." he's trails off frowning a bit as he saw the girl

"She's a little busy right now, can I tell her to call you later?"

"Yes, that's fine. Can you tell her it's Sidney?"

"Yeah, yeah, will do" the man says before quickly ending the call and walking to the girl and beginning to pick up the glass shards around her, and cleaning up the floor as she just sat there

Once everything was done he walked up grabbing her face and rubbing her cheeks with his thumbs, she seemed out of it, more out of it then usual

He almost felt bad

But he couldn't help but smile at the girl as her lip trembled
He huffed a bit as he drew her closer into a hug
"Come on, doll. No use cryin' over spilt milk" he says laughing a bit at his words

He sighs a bit as he shuts up, Scarlett wrapping her arms around his waist as she practically clings to him, one of his hands resting on the back of her head and one rubbing her back

"You know, I'm not really good at this whole comforting thing" he mumbles

The girl hated how she liked him.

He was a killer, he was going to kill her

But she loved how his hands were gentle with her. He's killed men with them and yet he was holding her so softly

And she hated how he was right

She was selfish, she always had been

She was the reason her mother left, and that caused Billy to go insane and bring Stu along as well

She could've saved Sidney roommate, Hallie, if she wasn't stupid and tried to find out who the killer was

She broke up Randy and Rose

She got Randy killed

And she was the cause of so many deaths to come because she couldn't snitch on him

Everything was because of her

Maybe if she had just loved her mother a bit more, or payed more attention to Billy, or helped Randy instead of running like a coward everything would be okay

And she knew any sane person would've pushed the man away, they would've called the cops, they wouldn't be enjoying his attention, but she was

He was a murderer and yet this was the safest she had felt in years

"Come on, let's get you something else to eat" Jed sighs as he pulls away, wiping the last of her tears before he begins boiling water
"...you've got pasta, saw it in the closet. And while it isn't exactly healthy. It's more than cereal" the girl just watches him as she pulled herself up to sit on the counter, going to light a cigarette when the man quickly snatched it from her fingers

"Nuh-uh. You can go til after dinner before smokin'. And if you feel like it after, you've gotta smoke it outside, yeah? It already smells like that shit in here so don't even pout about it"
