A few months had gone by since Soobin's first encounter with his soulmate and since then it had become increasingly clear to Dahee that things were changing between she and her boyfriend.

Ever since the encounter with his supposed soul mate intimacy between the couple felt like a foreign language, as did everything else the two had once considered normalcy in their partnership. Their old inside jokes no longer lured laughter from their lips, late nights alone together became quieter and more occupied by television shows neither of the two really enjoyed as opposed to endless conversations about anything and everything imaginable.

Soobin had started to work more (or so he claimed). Dahee wasn't so sure as there was a lack of extra cash lying around to accompany the seemingly ridiculous overtime he'd supposedly been slaving his way through at the cinema.

It was as if every day Dahee felt more and more estranged from the boy she once shared every part of herself with. Never mind the fact he was still mere inches from her in bed most nights, it still felt as if Soobin had mentally packed his things and left her behind just a few days after his introduction to his real soulmate.

Lani.

If Dahee had a penny for every time she'd heard the girl's name slip from Soobin's unconscious lips late at night she swears she'd be filthy rich.

Dahee was no fool. She knew good and well what was coming her way. She knew in the back of her mind that Soobin yearned to experience a new and exciting romance with this Lani girl. After all, a soul tie was rumored to grow more demanding of attention than ever after two soulmates first introduction. So how could he not wish to peruse this new and exciting part of his life when even his subconscious was said to be badgering him about it day and night?

Dahee knew it was only a matter of time before her boyfriend broke the news to her. But to say that she was accepting of her impending fate was a lie at best.

Though she knew it may seem pathetic to anyone observing from an outside perspective, Dahee couldn't help it. She was utterly and irreducibly  attached to the boy. For as long as she could remember he was everything to her.

The moment she graduated she moved away with him and depended on him for emotional and physical support. The idea of eight dedicated years of her life being thrown away because of some girl who fate deemed somehow more suitable for Soobin than her felt downright preposterous.

She simply couldn't come to terms with it.

Maybe that was why she clung to him now more than she ever had before. She made sure to do the little things like bring him home his favorite coffees every night when she left work at the cafe, or drawing him small pictures of the two of them on napkins and writing sweet notes on posted notes to slip into his lunches before he went off to "work". All of these were just desperate last attempts of remaining present in his life.
