Retaliation is useless. My arms feel like twigs strapped together with tenacious, wiry vines - Ivor's hands.

The man shoves me deep into his office, my waist colliding with his desk. He whips out a key, turning it in the keyhole to imprison me with half of my own strength and himself.

I swear, the things I'll do to him once his dumb potion effect wears off...

"What?" I ask, scowling as I clamp a hand over my hip. "What's so freaking important that you need to splash weakness on me and take me away from Jesse?"

He strides to his desk drawer and trawls through it to find a latte-tinted envelope, presenting it on the table. Only then does he talk.

"I know what you're thinking, which is why I'm gonna show you these to stop you from doing what I know you'd do to me."

Out of his pockets, he grabs two potions, different from the other one he used on me. They're worse. I recognize that cabbage-red color anywhere, recalling the exact day he tossed that same one at me in Soren's lab. Jesse saved me, jumping in the way to catch it and reverse the direction of the projectile.

Jesse isn't here now and the potion of harming has found its way back into Ivor's hands. Ivor plus any circumstance that involves Wither makes him a straight up villain. He's forgotten about all our adventures in the portal hall. He's forgotten about the days he was wandering as a ninja to help us defeat the admin. This guy is a complete stranger, the same one that risked that low blow of scamming me out of a diamond for my wither skull years ago.

"You're going to stand still like a good girl and listen to everything I have to say to you."

Trapped.

For once, I'll have to comply to his enigmatic needs.

With his three middle-most fingers, he slides the envelope in my direction. "Open this."

I stare down at the cardboard. It claims my name, which is printed on a white label sticker as well as my date of birth and residence. "My test result? I thought I already got it back."

"That was a cover up result. It was to help contain this discovery that we can't hide anymore," Ivor says. I finish ripping apart the top as he does speaking.

All that's left is to pull out the paper inside. Ivor gives me a nod of confirmation and I pinch at the contents, drawing them out.

Two papers, the first with my result and the other with unimportant guidelines that I'd be too lazy to read. I flip the papers, finding it on the back.

*POSITIVE*

As if I was expecting the letters to re-scramble into the outcome I had before, I stare at it without blinking. I scrutinize every character, tracing each one with my eyes to be extra sure. "You're joking, right? I was never sick back then. I wasn't bitten either."

"That's what we thought, so we screened back your test dozens of times but each result was the same."

I frown. "It can't be."

"A positive result with the absence of sickness could only mean one thing:

Petra, you're immune to WITHER."

The miracle word echoes in my ears.

My lips part, mouth hanging wide open, not to say anything but to simply gape at this statement.

Immune.

That's good. Really good. It's definitely not the news anyone would cry over though I'm cautious enough to think twice. Surely not. Frankly, I find it hard to believe because-
