Ch. 10 ~Forgotten Memories~

 “Yeah… I know I must look pretty bad in here, but this useless pride… I suppose I’ll have to… get rid of it.”

Ryuk looked down at Light.

“Got it. Later!” Ryuk said while disappearing into the wall.

Light stared ahead waiting for his plan go into action. Before he entered to be interrogated, he gave back Misa’s Death note to Rem making Misa lose her memories in the process. His second part of the plan was to give Ryuk a secret word to give up ownership of his own Death Note and then he would lose his memories as well.

Light’s cold, dark brown eyes changed into a brighter brown and back into innocence. Light looked around confused and tried convincing L that this idea was stupid and how he wasn’t Kira. No matter what Light said, L refused to set him free.

“Damn! Why is this happening?!” Light cursed.

“What the hell is going on? This isn’t like Light at all.” Aizawa said while watching Light.

“Well we can’t release him since the murders have stopped,” Matsuda said, “It doesn’t matter what he says.”

“I don’t care what anyone says. As far as I’m concerned, we have all the proof we need. Light Yagami is Kira and that’s the end of it.” Aizawa said crossing his arms.

L stayed silent while studying Light, putting his thumb to his lips. Unknown to them, a certain angel in black was also observing from the darkness of the room.

Light Yagami and his father were imprisoned for at least a week, but one day, Matsuda returned with news. It seemed Kira had started killing criminals again. Matsuda had told this to Mr. Yagami and he was relieved. Matsuda went to tell Light, but L slapped his hand away making Matsuda look at him offended. L strictly told the others that Light shouldn’t know about this.

“L, this is a setup! I’m not Kira! Zoom into my eyes if you have to. Do these eyes look they belong to someone who’s lying?!” Light exclaimed.

L said nothing, but thought of something.

“What about Freya?” L asked as he saw Light drop his determined serious expression. Light’s eyes softened.

“Freya… What about her?” Light asked.

“The other day, before you were confined, she gave us the main point of her story. And how Kira was the one who killed her boyfriend-” L said but Light interrupted.

“I told you! I am not Kira! I wasn’t the one who killed him! Why would I do that to Freya, even if he killed her?! I would have tried to save her and I know you would too!” Light shouted.

L said nothing more and switched on the microphone in Misa’s confinement room.

“Misa Amane, are you ready to tell me who Kira is or not?” L asked.

“Huh? That again? I wish I knew but I don’t because if I did, I’d thank him for killing the man that killed my parents. To me Kira is a hero.” Misa said.

“Did you by chance meet a Fallen Angel?” L asked. Matsuda and Aizawa became slightly tense.

“A Fallen Angel?” Misa asked then thought about it, “Yes… Yes, I did. She said her name was Freya and she tried to warn me about something, but… urgh! I can’t remember what it was… my mind is so fuzzy whenever I try to think about it…” Misa said.
