~The Fallen~ {Death Note}

Ch. 3 ~Overcast~

~Flashback~

 Raye Penber opened his eyes and sat up looking around confused. His surroundings were not normal. The sky around him was mixed with black, purple, and a little hint of white, and it was mainly dim. He had lain in dark grass and he could see a river with the colors of the sky illuminating on the water's surface making the lake white and glisten. "Where... am I?" Raye asked.

 "You are in the Twilight Realm..." a familiar voice said. Raye turned his head and gasped in surprise when he saw a girl wearing a black short dress with her high black stockings and fishnet clothes along with her elegant black wings. Once Raye saw the cross choker around her neck, he relaxed knowing she must be safe. "My name is Freya..." Freya said in her soft voice. "How did I get here? Last thing I remembered was coming out of the train and had a tremendous pain in my chest... and then I saw nothing but black..." Raye trailed off. "Yes, you were killed by Kira..." Freya said. Raye gasped then looked down. "I can't believe he got me..." "Don't blame yourself..." Raye looked up at Freya. "Kira is a genius and real careful with his movements... There's no doubt in my mind that you were killed by him for nothing... you tried to stop him..." Freya said and Raye was amazed by this angel's words. 

 "Wow... if only Naomi can see and listen to you..." Raye trailed off again then looked shocked and worried. He stood up abruptly. "What about my fiancee?! What about Naomi?!" Raye asked worriedly. Freya stared at him. "I'm certain she'll search for Kira to punish him after what he's done and to you..." "Please can't you do something to help her... or maybe protect her?!" Raye pleaded. "I cannot. I apoligize but my only will is to guide souls to there rightful place..." Freya said making Raye look down sadly. "The only thing you can do is strongly hope she doesn't get caught by Kira..." Freya said and Raye slowly nodded. "Alright... I'm ready to go...." Raye said and Freya nodded.

 Raye's spirit shined and then formed into a bright sphere. Freya held Raye Penber's soul in her palms. "I shall guide you where you truthfully belong..." Freya softly said as she flew in the twilight sky and flew over the lake... heading for whatever was beyond the side of the lake...

 ~End Flashback~

 Soon after Freya was done with resting Raye's soul to peace, she began to fly back to the Human World to find Naomi Misora, Raye Penber's fiancee. Freya found her at last and she was grieving over Raye's death. Once Freya saw Naomi Misora's condition, she left to give the woman some alone time. Later that day, she met Light and knew that he killed Raye Penber. Freya had a strong feeling Naomi would track down Kira and Light wasn't going to let that happen, and her theory was correct.

 Freya stood on top of a high skyscraper and could easily see Light walking with Naomi Misora. She saw them exchange words and then walk some more. She could see Light in deep thought and wrote something down on a paper... from Death Note. Freya counted the 40 seconds then looked at Naomi for any effects. Naomi continued to walk and nothing happened. "She used an alias... that was wise of her..." Freya muttered to herself and looked back at Light who looked frustrated and worried. Ryuk chuckled behind him as he saw Light's problem. "It seems your days of being Kira will soon be over, Light..." Freya muttered again. Freya continued to watch and Naomi told Light that she would like to go back to the police station be herself and Light got a dark look on his face but was forced to agree with her. Freya watched as Naomi walked off by herself, but Light still followed her and they were very close to the station.

 Light then stopped Naomi again to talk to her and Freya watched as they had a conversation. The air was very cold but it didn't bother Freya. She could tell the clouds were growing more grey and it was either going to rain or snow soon. Just then it started to snow lightly and Freya's eyes then became serious as she looked down at them. Naomi gave Light her ID.... her real one.... By that time it was silent and Freya closed her eyes in shame....

 Naomi had just given Light her real ID because she trusted him and he would let her join L and the task force to catch Kira. Her own desperation to avenge her fiancee got the better of her. Light wrote down the real information on the Death Note and checked his watched as Naomi's last seconds went by.

 "So.. if you don't mind me asking, why do you keep checking your watch?" she asked. "Oh, well... I guess it's because..." Light then looked up and his eyes glowed red and he smirked. "Because I'm Kira..." Naomi's eyes widen and she was unable to speak, not even breath. The last second ticked and everything was silent. Light looked at Naomi with a smirk and victory in his eyes. Naomi's eyes were wide and dull and a few seconds passed with them frozen in their places. With the same expression Naomi had, she turned away and began walking. 

 "What's the matter?" Light asked pretended to be worried. "There's something I have to do..." Naomi said with her voice being soft and lost. "My father's cell phone is available now, do you want to see if you can talk with him?" Light asked while smirking. "No, thank you... I have nothing to say to him..." Naomi sadly said. "Then good-bye... Naomi Misora..." Light said watching her walk on to her death. 

 After Naomi was farther away and the snow still fell from the sky, Light had sensed something, something familiar. He looked up in the sky and Ryuk looked up as well to see Freya fly by just on time. They watched as Freya flew after Naomi and Ryuk chuckled. "There goes Freya." Light didn't say a word, he only smirked straight ahead....

 Naomi's eyes slowly opened and met the eerie sky. She scrunched her eyebrows in confusion and then sat up and gasped lightly when she saw Freya in front of her. "Hello Naomi Misora. My name is Freya..." Freya said. Naomi then stood up and gazed at the girl. "Freya..." she softly said. "What are you?" Naomi asked. "I'm a Fallen Angel. And I guide lost souls to their rightful place..." Freya said. Naomi blinked. "Freya... I don't understand what happened... Light confessed he was Kira to me... and then... everything disappeared..." Naomi said softly. Freya stared at the woman with pity but hid it very well. "That's because Light killed you." Naomi looked at her. "He made you commit suicide and to make sure your body wasn't found. And now you're here..." Freya said. 

 Naomi looked down. "So it was Light all along," she said a little angerly. "Don't put the blame on yourself... you were a skillful FBI agent. I know... I've seen you before..." Freya said making Naomi snap her head at the angel. "What? What do you mean?" she asked surprised. "Let's just say I first saw you during your previous cases... but that's not why you're here. I shall guide your soul to where it will be at peace... and with Raye Penber..." Freya said making Naomi wide eyed at her. Now Naomi knew that Freya met Raye and sent him to rest and she would join him. Naomi smiled sadly and closed her eyes. "Thank you..." 

 Naomi's soul turned into a bright sphere and landed in Freya's hands. Freya took off in the air and flew over the lake towards to where Raye was waiting for Naomi....
