~The Fallen~ {Death Note}

Ch. 5 ~Scarlett~

It was the next day at the To-Oh University and after classes, Light and L headed down to the tennis court to play a game of tennis. They decided to play tennis for fun and to get to know each other. But L really was trying to test if Light was Kira. They started playing and it turned into a serious match. Light caught on to what L was trying to do and decided to fight back. 'So, if Light wins the percentage of him being Kira will go up. But if he loses... it would still be suspicious. Kira knows if he wins then he would be more suspected so he'll try to lose on purpose to avoid suspicion.' L thought as he swung his racket and the ball fly by to Light. Light hit the tennis ball back, 'What is he planning? Is he trying to test me if I'm Kira? Well I guess I can lose since he would suspect me to win. But on the other hand, he would also suspect Kira to lose to avoid suspicion.' Light thought.

 The game kept playing and soon alot of other students watch the match go on. They awed at the intense match; however one stood in the back of the crowd also watching. Her grayish blue eyes watch the two boys play. Ryuk of course was watching, avoiding being hit by the ball. He looked at the crowd and thought he saw someone familiar. The game ended when Light shot the last point and he won the match. The crowd dispersed and the person Ryuk was familiar to wasn't there. 

 Light and L were walking down the paths and isles of cherry blossom trees were on each side of the path. "Just as I expected, you beat me" L said. "It's been a while since I had to play that hard,"Light said, "I'm feeling kinda thirsty and there was something I wanted to ask you about. You want to go somewhere for a drink?" he asked. "You humored me with the tennis match, the least I could do is answer some of your questions. But before this conversation goes any further there's something I must tell you" L said and Light looked at him. "What is it?" "I suspect you, Light Yagami, that you are in fact Kira." L said staring at him closely. 

 Light stopped walking and L did also. "You think I'm Kira?" Light lightly laughed. "Well it's only a small percentage, but yes I do. I hope it wouldn't hurt to ask you if you would join this investigation?" L said. "Oh?" Light asked. "Come on, we'll discuss about it when we get our drinks" L said as he walked on and Light followed. Light was silent and thinking to himself about L. He then froze when he saw a girl walk in front of them. L was still walking and it was in slow motion between Light and this girl. She now was walking across their path, looking on ahead. That long, curly, red hair.... 

 His eyes widen as she stopped walking and looked toward him and L. Light knew those grayish blue eyes anywhere. 'Freya...' Light thought. L had stopped and looked at the girl then looked at Light then back at the girl. "Hello, Light" Freya said. "Light, do you know this girl?" L asked glancing at Light. "Yeah.... Her name's-" "I'm Scarlett," Freya said. Light eyed her as L didn't notice. "Well it's nice to meet you, Scarlett. I'm Hideki Ryuga. By the way, have we met before? You seem... familiar..." L said studying Freya and Light looked surprised and looked between the both of them. "No, I don't think so" Freya said. "Hmm" L muttered to himself. 

 "Hey Scarlett, you want to tag along with us? We're going out to talk and have a drink" Light said. "No thank you, Light. I have to be somewhere and it's quite important. It was nice seeing you and we'll see each other soon. Nice meeting you, Hideki." Freya said calmly and she walked off. The two guys watched her walk off. "Hey Ryuga, why did she seem familiar to you?" Light asked. "Oh it's nothing really. She reminded me of someone from my childhood, but her name wasn't Scarlett." L said monotonously. "What about you Light? How do you know such a beautiful girl?" L asks. 

 "Well... when I was sending my information to get into the University, she was there also. We just bumped into each other and started talking." Light lied. "Oh, I see" L says as they now continued to walk. Light then thought to himself. 'Why in the world would Freya be here? And how can L see her if he hadn't touch a black rose like I did? I guess it doesn't matter. I only need to focus on getting L's trust and somehow know his name, even though Freya is watching me like a hawk...' Light thought as he and L headed to a cafe.

 Light and L sat in a booth in the cafe. L had tested Light to see how smart he was. He pulled out the messages Kira left and Light gave his opinion about the messages. L said he was incorrect and said there was actually a another message, but Light knew it was a fake and was also being tested of his actions. Light fakely smiled and chuckled and admitted defeat to this game. L told Light he was working with Mr. Yagami and other task force members. And L had decided to let Light join the force.

 Each of them got a call and were told that Mr. Yagami was in the hospital from a heart attack. They hurried to the hospital and Light only hoped his father wasn't dead. If he was, then Freya would be there ready to guide his soul to wherever he was supposed to be. He wanted to know what Freya saw as his father was close to death. But it was a relief to know that Mr. Yagami was still alive and well in the hospital. Light knew that for sure since he didn't see Freya anywhere. 

 After Light and L visited Mr. Yagami, they went out of the hospital and it was already night time. Light and L exchanged a few words and Light had told him he wouldn't be able to work with the force till his father was better. L understood that and got in the car, letting Watari drive him back to the hotel. Light watched him leave and knew exactly that Hideki Ryuga, Ryuzaki, was L. 

 "Ryuk, I never felt once cursed ever since I picked up the Death Note. In fact, I feel better than ever thanks to this power. I'm going to create a perfect world." Light said to the shinigami. "Honestly, I could care less if you feel cursed or happy to have the notebook. I'll leave that sentimental crap to you humans. But," Ryuk says, "Humans who come in contact with the shinigami have nothing but misfortune." Light eyed him and thought more.

 "Is that so? Well what about Fallen Angels?" Light asked. "By Fallen Angels, you mean Freya," Ryuk stated and Light was quiet. "Can't say for sure for that one." Light sighed. "Well I don't intend on following that pattern" "Hehehe I hope you're right about that" Ryuk chuckled. Light continued to walk back home with Ryuk following. Light was again in deep thought. An image of Freya at the University popped in his head. Light thought this wouldn't happen but he thought he was.... in love.... with the Fallen Angel....

 On that same night, Freya still known for being named Scarlett, walked down through a neighborhood. She hummed a song. A song only Fallen Angels know. She came to a stop and stopped singing. She turned her head to a direction and sensed another human had died. Most likely someone killed by Kira. A black light surrounded her and she was back in her black angel clothes and her wings stretched out. She immediately flew into the air and took off to the direction, where a soul was waiting for her....
