Alexis' Point Of View

I smile as the last costumer for today leaves the bakery. My bakery, Sweet Sensations, is my first real project. I started thinking about it while I was still in high school and I put more thinking into it during my college days and now I am here. At the age of 25 I own one of the most successful bakeries in the city. I never dared dreaming of my dreams becoming so big, but I am proud to say I did it, finally.

I am a person my mother is proud of, well mostly. She still thinks I should put my dreams on hold and get myself a boyfriend, maybe husband, first and should be already expecting a child. But I was never a person to go after boys, I simply never had time and didn't see a point in casual dating and having my heart broken. It simply isn't my style and I never planned on living from my husband's money, I want to make my own and be able to support myself.

And it's not like boys like girls like me. I am something you would call a plain Jane, a bookworm with passion for sweets. I have some extra pounds, well a lot, but I never let them bother me. I always believed that your weight does not define who you are. I was never bullied, this is not some teenage story where everyone bullies the fat girl, no, this is a real world. I never got bullied, but I never had friends either, I was simply invisible.

My dad left me and my mom when I was still inside of her tummy, so yes, he left before I was born. I never mind that actually, I am glad he left so soon and not later when I already had a pleasure of enjoying my time with him which would only make me miss him more. My mom did well raising me alone and I am proud to say she is my mom.

I walk to the front doors and lock them, turning the "CLOSED" sign to the street. I turn off the lights and head to the back where the kitchen and my office are. I walk into my office and sit down into my chair. I quickly check my notebook in which I write down ideas for the sweets I could make or how to improve my bakery. It is still early, so I decide to stop in the kitchen and try some new recipes.

I pick my notebook and walk to the kitchen where I get to work. I am doing this Chocolate-Rum Cups which are easy to make, but I wanted to try some other options. For the cups you need dark chocolate, eggs, sugar, cooking cream and rum. And when you mixed everything according to the instructions, you need to put the cups into the fridge for a few hours.

I turn on the radio with my CD on and start with work. I need the cups for a party which will be filled with people and kids, so I need to make more variations of it and make sure some are nonalcoholic, because of the kids.

I decided to use white chocolate with squeezed some orange juice, dark chocolate with squeezed lemon juice and milk chocolate with strawberry juice for kids. I put those in smaller orange, red and yellow cups, so I can remember which is which for later.

After I was done with those, I made dark chocolate with rum, white chocolate with strawberry vodka and milk chocolate with Jack Daniels for the adults. I put this into bigger blue, green and black cups. I made some crème too put on top tomorrow morning before trying them.
