Mentors oh mentors.

"Are you ok?" Treech gently called out into the darkness.

You'd been on the train for hours now, the dark sky beginning to rise and cloak you both into blackness. Neither of you had said much since getting on the train, instead opting to stare out of the windows, out into the wide world you'd never know.

"Yeah... fine." You responded coolly.

"Don't lie to me. It's ok to be scared..." he said moving himself closer to you.

"Everyone's scared when coming.."

After a long moment, Treech finally spoke up again.

"You know... we aren't fighting. It's gonna be ok-"

"We'll still watch people die Treech! People are still going to their unstoppable death!" You couldn't help but hiss out desperately, allowing yourself to turn fully and look at the boy.

"When did we get so old..." Treech whispered, his hand coming to rest on his forehead.

"I....I don't know..." you felt your throat close on itself preventing any further words to exchange, Treech seemed to notice, his arm reaching out tenderly, winding tightly around your shoulder.

"It feels like we were kids in the woods a millennia ago..." you added on quietly. Treeches arm around you only tightened, his head coming to rest on yours.

"That's just what happens Y/n...."

The train arrived quicker than last time you thought. What once was three days, locked in a dirty, cattle transport was now only a day locked in a somewhat comfortable train.

Maybe even half if you had a watch to guess, or maybe even a clock to keep count. You couldn't only let out a heavy sigh, your eyes closing tightly to avoid looking out the window.

The weight of Treeches head on your shoulder was still present, a comfort. You didn't know when in the night you had shifted positions but you had. His face pressed deeply into your collar bones, his arm still around your waist as you leaned into the crook between the window and the trains seat.

You desperately wished you could reach your hand up and comb the hair from his eyes, and back under his hat.

You even secretly wished that maybe, one day you could press delicate kisses to his face.

Yet, whilst you were close? sometimes the border of friends and lovers was or had been crossed, but neither of you had taken the final step and declared yourselfs 'lovers'.

Once the train came to a slow stop in the station, mind you a different one to before. A cleaner, clearly newer and brighter built one, only then did Treech awake.

"Are we...?"

"Yeah.."

Treech took a deep, but slow breath, his body straightening up, his joints cracking as he slowly rose to his feet. He peered sharply through the window cautiously before looking to you.

"It's ok... there's no peacekeepers just... people." He said gently, his hand coming out for you to take.

You carefully reached up, your fingers interlocking with his as he pulled you up to your own feet.

With ease, Treech began to manoeuvre out of the cart, down the thin, dirty hall of the train towards the same glass doors you both had entered through.

Another long moment you both spent staring out. This time, you took the first step, gently moving down the steps, allowing your feet to crash with the hard, concrete ground.

Treech followed closely behind you, his hand not once leaving yours.

The people on the platforms was far and few, maybe five or six? All dressed in different clothes and styles for different weather.

Some were older, most looked young. You assumed that maybe, much like you? These people were to be mentors too.

A small group of four had formed, all dressed in decent clothes, stylish... clothes that when you were younger you had wished your family could afford, yet, never could.

The two people straggled around, not once mixing or mingling with anyone else. It really did feel like the tenth games in the zoo.

The one figure that caught your attention was a girl, she looked too much like Wovey, youthful in the face and almost careless. Her body didn't show an ounce of nerves...

These people were to guide the tributes in the games too, just like you and Treech.

"Wanna go talk?" Treech muttered to you, his eyes carefully surveying the surrounding people.

You only shook your head.

"No... if you want to-"

"I'm not leaving you." He said firmly, giving your hand a tight squeeze.

A loud, sharp noise sounded, causing the sounds of the platform to silence. Stood front and centre, stood a man, a man you had come to know enough.

Coriolanus Snow.

You couldn't help but be... stunned. The last time you saw him, he was to be sent away, far far away from the Capitol to the districts. Far enough even, that he would never return due to his shame.

Yet here he was, stood in a blood red coat, his once golden curls now white, and swept back on his head. On his finger, a golden band. By his side was two peacekeepers, in their hands large, black guns.

The feature that caught your attention the most was Snows eyes however.  His eyes deep and dark, the blue now swirling into almost black.

"Welcome back ex- tributes! To the eleventh annual hunger games." He called out, his tone even, and certain.

"If you'd all be so kind as to follow me, we will guide you to your quarters where you will given a guide and wait for your tributes to arrive."

Treeches hand tightened on yours, almost moving protectively in front of you.

This wasn't going to go well...
