I sat on the plane, nervousness filling me as I waited to take off to California. I thought back to the people who came to see me the day before. The precious friends I'd had—the people I was leaving behind. I'd made a mess of my life, but here I was, moving towards a fresh start. While my friends, family, and I all agreed that a fresh start was what I needed, I couldn't help but long for the people I was now leaving behind. I thought back to each person and how much they meant to me.

I'd changed so much in such a short period of time, and I had finally begun fixing the mess I'd made after losing my parents. A part of me wished I'd stayed to keep fixing things, but life isn't about everything being perfect. Some things stay broken, and sometimes we just have to walk away. It's just the way we say "Goodbye."
