Vera and I left back to the hall to meet an anxious parent and a confused duke's daughter.

"Danny dear,how's the maid?"

"She's fine, mom. She just needs to rest."

"Okay,what did the doctor say?"

"Well,the doctor said she should rest because she overworks."

Vera cut in for me,I guess she doesn't want anyone to know yet. But for how long.

"Wow, I hope she's fine."

Lady Anna said slowly.

"Of course ma'am Anna, we all are dedicated to our work in this household that, we always lose track of time, that all. And she's just new here, so that's why she fainted. It's not a big deal."

Vera said with a smile on her face. Anna smiled, too.

"I know how it feels to lose track of time. I get dedicated to my work to the extent I forget my meals, and it leaves me with dizziness, haha. Well,I hope she's fine now."

"Oh yes, she is, ma'am, thank you for your concern ma'am, we really appreciate."

"Anna, would you like to stay a bit longer for dinner? That way, we can bond since you'll soon be part of the family. "

My dad changed the subject with a smile on his face.

"I would like too sir, but I'm afraid I must go back home,I haven't seen my father yet. I also have to surprise him like how I did you."

"Oh my dear,then I should keep you no longer. You can extend my greetings to the Duke and tell him I await his call."

"I will sir,what a lovely reception I received today. Thank you for the tea. I really enjoyed it. "

And with that, lady Anna hugged each and every one of us goodbye,promising to come visit again. I was the last to get the hug. I didn't feel any connection like how I did Bessie. That proved all the more,that Bessie is the one I want to be with.After she left, my parents turned to look at me.

"Son,your mother and I are going to the Witherson's. They've been calling on us for dinner, but we always are busy,so not wanting to make it look like we're ignoring them,we're going."

"Sure, dad, I'll just have my friends come visit."

"Hm,take care,we'll be back."

And with that,they also left,but not without mom kissing me on the cheek to tell me how well brought up I am.
I went to the kitchen looking for Vera.
But she wasn't there. So I decided to go to the maid's quarters to see Bessie
When I got there,I saw Vera. Bessie was eating.

"Bessie, how are you feeling now?"

"I'm fine, sir. Thanks for asking."

"I made her some soup,she needs it now."

Vera added, and I nodded. Bessie needs this now since she has a little baby in her. It again brought a smile to face.I went to sit beside her.
