I was very rudely snapped out of my sleep by someone barging into my room. I sat up with a groan and blinked rapidly for a second to adjust my eyes to the darkness in my room.
"Astra!" a voice whisper-yelled. Merlin.
"What?" I groaned.
"She is on the move!"
Sleepiness left me entirely and I scrambled to get out of bed, pull on a hoodie, and put on some socks before I dashed towards my best friend. He grabbed my arm and moved me behind him as he silently began to creep along the corridors. We rounded a corner and spotted a figure with a red cloak. Morgana, I presume.
I scanned her figure as we moved closer while sticking to the walls, and I realised that she carried the dagger that Arthur had given her in a sheath that hung from a belt. My heart churned. He was so excited about it, and now it might be used to injure his father – assuming from the fact that she seems to be headed towards Uther's room.
My heart-beat accelerated and I glanced around for anything I could grab to defend the King if it came down to it.
Just as Morgana was reaching for the handle to the doors of a secluded corridor that leads to the antechamber, they were slammed shut by an invisible force. I jolted at the unexpected movement. A candle holder that was beside the door fell towards her and she seemed to trip before falling down a staircase with an ear-piercing scream.
"No," Merlin gasped.
"What did you do?!" I whisper-yelled at him before sprinting towards the Lady.
I ran down the stairs until I reached her, finding her lying seemingly unconscious in the middle of the staircase, and I kneeled down beside her while placing a hand on her arm. "Morg? Can you hear me?"
No response came and I gently rolled her onto her back. I gasped when I saw that she had blood oozing from her forehead and tears started to pool in my eyes. She can't die! Especially not when there's darkness in her heart! We need to find a way to recover her goodness! I felt her wrist for a pulse and let out a shaky breath when I found one.
"Merls!" I called out to my friend, who remained standing atop the staircase with a blanched complexion and widened eyes. "We need to get her to Gaius!"
Arthur and Gwen must've heard the scream, for they both appeared on the scene seconds after.
"What happened?!" the Prince asked in alarm as he rushed down the stairs.
"We heard a scream n' found 'er like this," I responded in between heavy breaths.
He rapidly lifted her into his arms and hurried the rest of the way down the stairs and towards Gaius's apartment. I sprinted ahead so that I could wake up the physician and inform him of the emergency.
