📍 Camelot

June, 506 AD

I woke up with my face buried in the dusty bestiary, my left arm supporting my head just enough to keep my nose from being smashed against the paper, and my right hand – now covered in ink streaks – still clutched my pen. I blinked rapidly as I adjusted my sight to the faint light that filtered through the window. Then I pushed off the table and glanced at the notes I took during the night.

I can't really remember much besides what felt like endless hours of writing and rewriting while trying to make sense of the words, and then some sentences were somehow formed, and then I suddenly had whole paragraphs... you get the idea.

After reading the notes about five times I let out a chuckle.

"Oh, dear!" I exclaimed in a whisper as a big smile formed on my face. "I did it!... I think..."

I frowned and scanned my notebook once more. Then I smiled again.

Yup, still perfectly understandable.

I leaned back on my chair and stretched my arms and spine. I let out a sigh and got up, stretched once more, and I went straight to take a bath. I allowed myself to remain in the tub for a bit longer than I usually do. My muscles relaxed deliciously under the warm water, releasing the tension they had accumulated from the uncomfortable position I slept in.

Perhaps I relaxed a bit too much, because I didn't realise that I fell asleep until a knock on the door to my room startled me awake.

My heart began to race.

Oh, fork, I hope I locked it!

"Hold on! Don't ya' dare come in!" I called out as I scrambled to get out of the tub (and slipped in the process). I hastened to dry myself and I put on the first pieces of clothing I found lying around – grey riding leggings and my Captain America shield sweatshirt.

My eyes lingered on my PJs drawer for a second, my brain longing for some good sleep. But I know that I can't indulge that wish right now. Not with an evil alien from another dimension visiting Camelot!

Once I was decent, I opened the door (it was locked!) and I instantly smiled again when I saw Merlin. "Well, hello there, dearest friend," I greeted him as I let him enter.

"You are in a good mood," he pointed out with an amused grin.

"I am!" I chirped. "Guess what I did?"

I did not wait for him to actually try to guess before I eagerly handed him my notebook.

Merlin's eyes scanned the translations carefully, a smile gradually growing on his lips. "Astra – this is great!" he exclaimed, which caused my grin to grow. "Does it say anything about how to kill it?"
