The rest of the dinner flew by with everyone talking and laughing except for me and Xavier. People kept glancing at us from the corner of their eyes, and I couldn't help but feel very uncomfortable and unnerved underneath their critical gaze.

However, that all stopped when dinner and dessert wrapped up, and I was able to leave with Xavier trailing after me and Parker following us close behind, for some reason.

I breathed a small sigh of relief and crouched against a wall a few feet away from the dining room, moving a hand through my hair and across my face. "Damn," I muttered under my breath and closed my eyes tighter while I shook my head and grimaced. "Damn, damn, damn."

"Are you ok?" Parker asked after he cleared his throat to hide a chuckle, amused. "That seemed to have taken a lot of energy out of you."

I looked at him and scowled, narrowing my eyes slightly, and he grinned innocently. "It did," I said and nodded in confirmation before I leaned my head against the wall and sighed, closing my eyes again. "It took a lot out of me, especially since people kept giving me the side eye."

Both Xavier and Parker glanced at each other from the corner of their eyes before they looked at me. They stayed silent, and I could tell that Parker wondered if it was me that they were looking at or if it was Xavier.

I scowled and narrowed my eyes while I opened them, not liking that side look that spoke words when none was spoken. "Why would they be looking at Xavier, Parker?" I asked and gestured to the Alpha while I raised an eyebrow in question. "What is he hiding that would make you so suspicious of people looking at him?"

Parker's eyes grew wide, and he looked at Xavier before he looked at me. His face became pale, and he cleared his throat and shifted on his feet. "N-N-Nothing," he stuttered before he shook his head and cleared his throat. "N-N-No reason."

I rolled my eyes and scowled, annoyed. "You are a bad liar, do you know that?" I asked and raised an eyebrow in question.

Parker gulped and shifted on his feet. Again, he looked at Xavier before he looked at me. He didn't say a word, and I could tell that he wanted his Alpha to help him, even though Xavier didn't for some reason.

I rolled my eyes again before I sighed and shook my head, deciding that I wouldn't push them for now. "Whatever," I grumbled, knowing full well that I wouldn't get an answer out of them. "But no, they were looking at me."

"Why?" Parker asked and cocked his head, studying me. Concern filled his eyes, and I couldn't help but feel slightly warm and happy that he was concerned about me, even though he didn't know that much about me. "Why were they looking at you?"

I shrugged and grimaced. "There are many reasons," I grumbled before I cleared my throat and stood, moving a hand through my hair while I looked at them. "It's mostly stuff that I do not like discussing, so I do apologize if I come off as a little rude." I moved a hand across my face before I sighed and shook my head before I offered him a tight smile.

"It's fine," Parker said and forced a small smile on his face, but that didn't hide the worry on his face. He cleared his throat and shifted on his feet. "Do you mind asking me what one reason is?" he asked and raised an eyebrow in question, hesitating slightly.

"Parker," Xavier hissed with a small warning in his tone, and we looked at him before we looked at each other.

Parker's cheeks turned a little red. He cleared his throat and shifted on his feet, not saying a word waiting for me to say something or to deny his request.

I shrugged and pressed my lips into a thin line, not caring that he wanted to know something even if it wasn't everything that had to deal with me. "It's fine, Xavier," I said and looked at him before I looked at Parker, biting back the clearing of my throat before I reached into my pocket. "And, it's mainly because of this." I pulled the pills out of my pocket and tossed it to him.
