The rhythm of the road had lulled them into a comfortable trance as they journeyed through the night, the steady hum of the engine punctuated by occasional bursts of laughter and conversation. Three hours had passed since they set out on their adventure, and hunger gnawed at their stomachs, prompting a unanimous decision to make a pit stop at McDonald's.
